Sixty Seven
“Sixty Seven” typeface was originally designed in the early 1990s by Yanek Iontef inspired by telegrams, typewriters and other means of communication from the 1960s (it can be seen on display on the old Fontef website preserved at http://2007.fontef.com). For the new release, the family includes new underline, vintage and cameo styles, that were popular in typewriters, a new Latin based on letters from the late 1920s in Germany.

The earliest true telegraph put into widespread use was the Chappe telegraph, an optical telegraph invented by Claude Chappe in the late 18th century. The system was used extensively in France, and European nations occupied by France, during the Napoleonic era. The electric telegraph started to replace the optical telegraph in the mid-19th century. It was first taken up in Britain in the form of the Cooke and Wheatstone telegraph, initially used mostly as an aid to railway signalling.
רשת הסמפור (Semaphore) הומצאה על ידי קלוד שאפה והופעלה בצרפת בין השנים 1792 ל־1846. הרשת סייעה לנפוליאון, והשיטה התפשטה באירופה ובארצות הברית. רשת הסמפור העבירה מסרים מיידיים יותר (במובן של ״זמן משליחה עד קבלה״) משליחי דואר, ושירתה אזורים שלמים. אולם היה צורך במפעילים ומגדלים כל 30 ק״מ, וקצב התקשורת המעשי היה לכל היותר כשתי מילים לדקה. השיטה הייתה שימושית עבור ממשלות, אך לא אפשרה שימוש מסחרי. רשת הסמפור המסחרית האחרונה נותרה פעילה בשוודיה עד לשנת 1880.
