Narkiss Block
An official version of the classic, groundbreaking sans serif by Zvi Narkiss, first published in 1957. The new version includes an expanded range of weights and widths, stylistic alternates and Latin characters. The family’s expansion was based on the condensed and extended styles that existed in the original family, as well as on the understanding that Zvi Narkiss’s goal was to create a multi-weight type family “Just like the Latin type families”.

Geometry (from Ancient Greek — ‘land measurement’; from gê — ‘earth, land’ and métron ‘a measure’ is a branch of mathematics concerned with properties of space such as the distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures. Geometry is, along with arithmetic, one of the oldest branches of mathematics. A mathematician who works in the field of geometry is called a geometer. Until the 19th century, geometry was almost exclusively devoted to Euclidean geometry, which includes the notions of point, line, plane, distance, angle, surface, and curve, as fundamental concepts.

גאומטריה (מיוונית עתיקה — ״אדמה״ או ״קרקע״) היא ענף של המתמטיקה העוסק בצורות ובמבנים, ובהם הישויות: נקודות, קווים ישרים, עקומות, משטחים, מעגלים ופאונים. הגאומטריה עוסקת בהוכחת טענות לגבי הישויות בעזרת משפטים, המתבססים על אקסיומות. דוגמה למשפטים גאומטריים — משפטי חפיפה. דוגמאות לאקסיומות מופיעות בערך נקודה. המבנים היסודיים של הגאומטריה (בדרך כלל, נקודה, ישר, מישור, ולעיתים גם הזווית והמרחק) מתוארים באמצעות האקסיומות שהם מקיימים. גישה כזו אינה מסתפקת בתיאור שיטות ואבחנות גאומטריות, אלא מתארת במפורש את הנחות היסוד (האקסיומות).

Humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the individual and social potential, and agency of human beings, whom it considers the starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry. The meaning of the term “humanism” has changed according to successive intellectual movements that have identified with it. During the Italian Renaissance, Italian scholars inspired by Greek classical scholarship gave rise to the Renaissance humanism movement. During the Age of Enlightenment, humanistic values were reinforced by advances in science and technology, giving confidence to humans in their exploration of the world. By the early 20th century, organizations dedicated to humanism flourished in Europe and the United States, and have since expanded worldwide. In the early 21st century, the term generally denotes a focus on human well-being and advocates for human freedom, autonomy, and progress. It views humanity as responsible for the promotion and development of individuals, espouses the equal and inherent dignity of all human beings, and emphasizes a concern for humans in relation to the world. Humanists tend to advocate for human rights, free speech, progressive policies, and democracy. Starting in the 20th century, some humanist movements are non-religious and aligned with secularism. Many contemporary secular humanist organizations work under the umbrella of Humanists International. Well-known humanist associations include Humanists UK and the American Humanist Association.

הומניזם (או אֱנוֹשָׁנוּת) היא גישה פילוסופית מרכזית ומרובת ענפים, המבוססת על לראות את האדם כאדם ומדגישה את היותו סוכן מרכזי, המשפיע על הסביבה שלו כאדם יחיד וכקבוצה אנושית. מקורה ההיסטורי של הגישה בזרם חברתי באיטליה בתקופת הרנסאנס, הידוע כ״הומניזם של הרנסאנס״. בעקבות עידן הנאורות המושג כיום מתייחס למגוון השיטות, האמונות והדעות המשלבות את השדה האנושי עם חשיבה ביקורתית, ומעדיפות חקירה שיטתית ותבוניות על פני חשיבה דוגמטית ואמונות תפלות. קיימת הבחנה שורשית בין נשוא הערך שהוא המובן האידאולוגי של הומניזם, לבין המובן שמעודד לימוד וחקר שפות, תרבויות, וספרים קלאסיים, כגון הבחנה בין מקצועות ריאליים להומניסטיים בבתי הספר ובאוניברסיטאות. המילה humanista היא שם עצם, שהתחיל להיות נפוץ בתקופת הרנסאנס כהגדרה לקבוצת החברים בגילדת המורים שלימדו huntanac artcs (אמנויות האדם). הומניסט הוא אדם המחזיק בגישה כללית הומניסטית אשר במרכזה האדם כמטרה וכ״סוכנות״ פעילה, כלומר אדם תבוני, ואולם הומניסט הוא תמיד בן תרבות מסוימת דרכה הוא מפרש את ערכיו ההומניסטיים: הומניסט צרפתי, הומניסט ישראלי וכו׳. לרוב, נעשה שימוש ב״הומניסט״ כדי לתאר את מי שמלא באהבה ובכבוד לבני האדם, המביע התחשבות, וסובלנות כלפיהם ודואג לזכויותיהם. ואולם יש להבחין בין הומניסט לבין ״הומני״ — אדם המגלה רגישות, רחמים או אמפתיה לכל אדם או בע״ח ללא קשר להשקפת עולמו הרחבה. בנוסף גם מי שעוסק בהומניסטיקה וקרוב למדעי הרוח והחברה מכונה הומניסט (הוראת המילה ניכרת לפי ההקשר). המילונאי ראובן אלקלעי הציע את חידושו אֱנוֹשַׁאי (תחת הומניסט). בשנת 2022, האקדמיה ללשון העברית קבעה את המונח אֱנוֹשָׁנוּת תמורת הומניזם.
