Deep in the night,

Blackbirds take flight.

They give you a fright,

From dark to daylight.

With morning sunrise,

You open your eyes.

You find it’s all lies,

Yet, you still hear their cries.

New day it still brings,

The flapping of wings.

The nightmare, it clings,

In your mind it still stings.

The worry and wonder,

No more will you blunder.

You must put asunder,

This spell you are under.

Blue and…? — CFFC

We see blue jays around here sometimes. This one was perched on the back of an outside chair. I’ve also found a blue jay feather on the ground.

***

I saw this blue jay sitting on the fence. He must live around here, because I see him quite often, mostly when he is at the bird feeder, or grabbing pieces of dry cat food off the porch. 🙂

***

I think this is a Great Blue Heron. We see them at the lake by our house all the time, but this one flew over the houses that day. This beautiful big bird then perched on the chimney of the house behind ours for awhile, then flew away.

Squares – Feeling Stuck In One Spot

Burgeoning with Life

Have you ever been working on a problem, or a craft, or a job, or even just trying to figure something out in your head, and it seems you are at a stand-still. You want to move forward, get the job done, get a resolution to the problem, but it seems you are just spinning your wheels, or flapping your wings, and getting nowhere.

Maybe this is what this yard decoration pink flamingo is thinking. The breeze blows the whirl-a-gig wings around and around and he is just stuck in the garden going nowhere.

I’ve actually seen birds flying nowhere. We have very windy days here (with dust/sand blowing), and sometimes a bird will be flying into the wind, just flapping it’s wings hard but not going forward at all. In fact it sometimes gets pushed backwards. It wants to move forward, but it isn’t happening.

Hopefully we get over the stuck spot, and we all can move forward after all. 🙂

Here are a few photos of oddball things from past years.

This is the roof of the house behind ours, so we see birds on there all the time. There were a bunch of them out there one dawn when the sky and clouds were all pink.

This was a large ceramic turtle with a smaller turtle riding on it’s back. I have no idea why it was in this Mexican food restaurant. I know turtle wasn’t on the menu!

This was very odd, I thought.

We were at this old thrift store/junk shop, and my grand-daughter called my attention to way up on the ceiling. It took me a minute to figure out what I was seeing!

Seems this is a large parachute, with a mannequin’s legs sticking out of the middle of it! This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen! 😉
