April Music Birthdays

***

April 5, 2026 – Song written or performed by someone who was born in the month of April

***

For today’s singer born in April, I chose Selena. She was born April 16, 1971. She has always been a favorite singer of mine, and has some wonderful songs. Sadly, she was murdered by one of her employees, the manager of her fashion line, who was also embezzling from the business.

  • Selena, a biographical musical/drama, was released in 1997. It stars Jennifer Lopez, Edward James Olmos, Jon Seda, and Constance Marie. (I like this one because it tells the story of the singer, Selena. There is good music and, besides the awful ending, there are plenty of funny parts, too.
  • Also, I had won tickets to see the premiere of this movie here in town. A radio station was having a call in contest, and I was the caller number that won. We saw it that night, and then went again a couple more times)
  • See more information about her life written in the Wiki article here

Here’s Selena, singing, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”. This was released from the album, “Amor Prohibido”, in 1994. It was written by Selena Quintanilla Perez, A. B. Quintanilla, and Pete Astudillo. It is on the EMI Latin label.

AI Overview
. The title itself is an onomatopoeic phrase meant to represent the sound of a palpitating heartbeat when a person is lovestruck.
Below are the English lyrics for the chorus and main verses based on translations.
“Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” English Translation
[Chorus]
It goes bidi bidi bom bom
Bidi bidi bom bom
Bidi bidi bom bom, bidi bidi bom bom
[Verse 1]
Every time I see you passing by
My heart goes crazy
Every time I see you passing by
And it starts beating for me
Like this, like this
[Chorus]
It goes bidi bidi bom bom
Bidi bidi bom bom
Bidi bidi bom bom, bidi bidi bom bom
[Verse 2]
I sing like this, I love it like this
Every time I see you passing by
My heart goes crazy
Every time I see you passing by
And it starts beating for me
Like this, like this

***

Here is Jennifer Lopez singing, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”, in the movie she starred in, “Selena”. She has said it was not her actually singing, since it was a recording of Selena’s voice, she was lip syncing to in her acting role. I think it turned out really well and believable in the movie.

SOCS – hide

SOCS -hide

For Linda’s challenge:

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 4, 2026

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “hide.” Use it way you’d like. Enjoy!

***

Today we have the prompt ‘hide’.

Hi – de … Hidy! Hi-d-hi, Hi – d- ho, what to write … I don’t know.

I like to rhyme most all the time

But what can be my very next line, or lime?

Line and time don’t really rhyme, but lime and time does, but makes no sense.

I imagine there will be a lot of people hiding Easter Eggs today or tomorrow for the kids to hunt for. That was always fun for me, then later for my kids.

Except for one year. I was really too old to be egg hunting, but there I was in my new Easter outfit … hat (yes) new shoes (yes) and my cousins and I were out in grandma’s front yard with our baskets looking all over for those hidden eggs.

Now for the awful part. The grown ups told us older kids to let the little kids find most of the eggs, and to give them some of ours. That made us older kids mad. I threw a fit, a regular fit with crying and red face and stomping and all of it.

And ….. my parents had a home movie camera, and were taking a movie of our whole Easter Egg hunt, which of course had me throwing a fit. Forever saved on film… forever … and ever …

Whew!

haha 🙂

I wish everyone who observes Easter Sunday, a lovely day, with no tantrum fits.

A 2 Z – 2026 – Cool Chickens

blue background with colorful dots & large yellow letter C

My cousin, Mike, raises exotic chickens.

He pretty much makes pets of them all, and collects their eggs to sell.

The first photo shows a large black & white chicken with an elaborate all black feathery head-dress. He calls this one Silver. I think it is a Polish Silver breed of chicken.

The next photo is Mike holding Silver.

The next photo is another kind of chicken he is holding. He calls this one Houdie. Could be because it is a breed of chicken called Houdan.  It is a large black and white chicken, with it’s head-dress of feathers of black & white.

Very cool chickens! 🙂

Writer’s Workshop

For John’s challenge: here

https://wordpress.com/reader/feeds/87817150/posts/6012986174

***

  1. Write a post inspired by the word forget.
  2. Write a post in exactly 9 sentences.
  3. Do you have any special plans for April?
  4. Make a list of your favorite musical artists (bands or individual). What makes them so good?
  5. Tell us a funny pet (or animal, or kid) story.
  6. Scott Adams observed “We live in a world where all data is wrong.” Discuss.

***

1. Mostly I wish we had a delete tab so we can delete bad memories we want to forget.

2.  —

3. No plans that I know of in April

4. Too many to name – look at my Song Lyric Sunday posts and you’ll see lots of favorites.

5. A funny pet story? So  many over the years with both cats and dogs. I’ve told some of them before, about my daughter’s dog Maynard (RIP). How he jumped in the lake by the house and my husband trying to catch him, and my daughter and I laughing so hard. Also when he caught a prairie dog in our back yard and carried it around in his mouth (not hurting it) as he thought it was his squeaky toy that looked a lot like a prairie dog (and it was squeaking, too!) Finally he let it go and the little critter scooted away under the fence. And then there was Rowdy’s gang of misfit neighborhood dogs. Such funny characters. 🙂

6. I have a couple of books that say just that. I can’t remember who wrote them right now, but it gave many examples, with commentary about most everything we take for granted or believe to be true, is not.
