***

  1. Write a post inspired by the word forget.
  2. Write a post in exactly 9 sentences.
  3. Do you have any special plans for April?
  4. Make a list of your favorite musical artists (bands or individual). What makes them so good?
  5. Tell us a funny pet (or animal, or kid) story.
  6. Scott Adams observed “We live in a world where all data is wrong.” Discuss.

***

1. Mostly I wish we had a delete tab so we can delete bad memories we want to forget.

2.  —

3. No plans that I know of in April

4. Too many to name – look at my Song Lyric Sunday posts and you’ll see lots of favorites.

5. A funny pet story? So  many over the years with both cats and dogs. I’ve told some of them before, about my daughter’s dog Maynard (RIP). How he jumped in the lake by the house and my husband trying to catch him, and my daughter and I laughing so hard. Also when he caught a prairie dog in our back yard and carried it around in his mouth (not hurting it) as he thought it was his squeaky toy that looked a lot like a prairie dog (and it was squeaking, too!) Finally he let it go and the little critter scooted away under the fence. And then there was Rowdy’s gang of misfit neighborhood dogs. Such funny characters. 🙂

6. I have a couple of books that say just that. I can’t remember who wrote them right now, but it gave many examples, with commentary about most everything we take for granted or believe to be true, is not.

For John’s challenge: here

  1. Write a post prompted by the word challenge.
  2. Write a post in exactly 12 sentences.
  3. Tell us something you learned about in the month of March.
  4. Do you and/or any members of your family participate in any sports or athletic pursuits in the spring?
  5. Write about a time you volunteered for something that turned into a disaster.
  6. Write a letter to yourself fifty years ago.

***

1. Challenge – Seems I do  most all my blogging  posts in response to all the fun challenges there are to do. I didn’t start out that way, but once I discovered them, I can’t stop. I want to do  more and  more. I sure appreciate all the people who host these challenges.

2. ==

3. Can’t think of anything right now that is new information I learned about. I do look up all kinds of information for the  moment in time I need it, but do I remember it? Not usually.

4. No one I know of now in my family that participate in any sports. My husband and dad used to play golf though.

5. Volunteered? I can’t think of anything.

6. Umm that would include doing math to figure out how old I was 50 years ago, and then remember where I was and what I was doing at that time. Too hard — math is not something I can do very easy, and  most times I get it wrong. Let’s just say I’d write to  myself, ‘you’ve got a long way to go, try not to mess up too bad, and if you do, it’s not the end of the world’. 🙂

***

1. I don’t know much about taxes. My Mr. used to do them each year himself, but now we just let a tax preparer company do it for us.

2. ??

3. I see my husband every day. I go no where to see anyone. But we have a house cleaner come in every 2 weeks, and she was here Tues. so I said Hi, and then she got on with her work, and when she left I said Thank you so much, Bye!

4. ?? Better health, everyone I know to be safe and healthy, nice enjoyable days for everyone I know

5. Every day is the same, get up, get coffee, do blog reading and commenting and posting for the rest of the day. I take short breaks for meals, and a couple of times to work on a jigsaw puzzle. Then later is time to shut down the computer and go to bed.

  4. Do you have any personal rituals or routines? Write about one of them.

***

my answers

1. I quit smoking a few years ago. I’m glad I just stopped, no problem, but I still miss it sometimes.

2.  —

3. I see lots of things in gift shops. Sometimes I buy something. Here’s one. First time I was in the airport in Corpus Christie TX, and close to actually seeing a beach, there was a little keepsake box covered in tiny shells. I’d never seen a real shell from a beach before, and so I bought it.

4. All day every day is my routine, same same same no change.

5. Umm can’t think of anything big, but I show my Mr. a thing to do on the computer, but then he doesn’t remember what to do next time, so I have to show him again . It’s when he accidentally minimizes a page and all I have to do is click the little square up in the right hand corner, and it goes back to normal size. haha

6. Pretty much I feel like it’s the end, and I might as well give up when I have to be in the hospital. But then I start feeling better, and glad I didn’t give up.

  1. Write a post based on the word oil.
  2. Write a post in exactly 9 sentences.
  3. Tell us about a toy that a sibling got (for his/her birthday, Christmas etc.) that you really wanted.
  4. What was the most useless class you took? Tell us about it.
  5. Which fictional character (from a book, comic book, TV show, or movie) did you most want to beat up? Why?
  6. When did you learn that Santa Claus/the Easter Bunny/the Tooth Fairy was your parents? How did you figure it out?

***

My answers:

1. Oil … I remember one time my daughter and I went to a restaurant, can’t remember what kind, maybe Italian? Anyway before our main meal came, they gave us some crusty bread and a little bowl of oil with some spicey things in it. We were confused as to what to do with it. So we dipped the bread in little  bites into the oil and ate it. Very odd to us, but it tasted really good.

2. ===

3. Can’t remember my sister getting a toy I’d wanted, as she was 5 years younger, but I remember my same age cousin got a ‘real’ Barbie doll when they first came out, and I wanted one but didn’t get it. I got a knock off one called ‘Babbette’. I was so disappointed.

4. Probably for me any math class I had to take was useless. I didn’t learn much, and hated every second of them.

5. Beat up a cartoon character??? Why??? That’s silly!

6. I don’t remember a specific time or age I learned about Santa and the rest of them. I don’t even remember any discussions with friends about it. Just a blank about this question.

2.  =

3. A difficult person? Hmm I don’t really know of anyone like that.

4. I’m allergic to several medicines, and so I don’t take them any more I’d get rashes, and upset stomach really bad. I don’t think I’m allergic to foods though.

  1. Write a post based on the word crisis.
  2. Write a post in exactly 8 sentences.
  3. If you observe Lent, what is your voluntary act of penance (e.g. giving up candy)?
  4. Write about your favorite car as a kid.

My answers:

1. I had a crisis last week when I had to to to the hospital lin an ambulance. Spent a few days there and am now back home. I’m grateful the EMS people are quick to get here.

2. =

3. no

4. My first care was okay but not my favorite. It was a used Ford Falcon, standard shift on the steering column. It was burgundy, and I put a large yellow flower power sticker on both sides by the window. My favorite was a few years later, a baby blue 65 mustang, then later a 69 Camaro

5. We were always playing around with making funny phone calls to people we didn’t know. Had some fun conversations with people, too. Good sports every one. I once got a text from a wrong number, inviting me to a birthday party in New Mexico. It had the address and everything. I didn’t now these people, so I texted back they had the wrong number.

6. When living in Germany we were right there in Furth/Nuremberg, and got to go through the infamous Nuremberg castle. Really interesting to see all that.

The questions:

  1. Write a post inspired by the word horizon.
  2. Write a post in exactly nine (9) sentences.
  3. What’s taking up the most mental space for you right now?
  4. What are the top three characteristics you feel are important for a person?
  5. Do you name inanimate objects?
  6. What do you love to create?

***

My answers:

1. We live in a very flat land here. If you get out from the city buildings and such, you can see many miles across the land horizon very easily.

2. 🙂

3. ? just the usual

4. Kindness, empathy, and a sense of humor

5. Yes we do tend to name inanimate objects. We called our blue pickup truck Big Blue.  We had at one time, a huge old white station wagon car, and we called it the White Whale. I usually have a fun name for the houseplants I have (and they are alive, but not very animated!haha ), and I know spiders are alive, but I give them names when I see them and take their  photo. One time we used to go get big jugs of water from a water dispenser place. We named our two jugs, Bob and Wade 🙂

6. I love to create lots of things. My writing is one major one. Painting and drawing is another. I used to do lots of sewing (clothes, crochet, embroidery) but don’t any more. All kinds of crafts were fun to do in the past, such as plaster, beading, jewelry making leathercraft, and woodburning were some of the things I liked to create.

***

We used to go to a water place to fill up these huge water bottles. For some reason we started calling one Bob and the other one Wade. So I made a sign for them and put big paper eyes on them.

  1. Write a post inspired by the word professional.
  2. Write a post in exactly eight (8) sentences.
  3. What food do you have a love-hate relationship with?
  4. What’s some small thing you recently noticed?
  5. Tell us about a time you got a great deal on something.
  6. Tell us about a time you got really sick.

***

  1. The word professional reminds me of the movie, “Kalifornia”, with Brad Pitt and Juliet Lewis and Michelle Forbes. One woman character gives the other a haircut/style, and the girls says it looks real “perfessional’ in her accent. My daughter and I always laugh if we happen to say that word, and we say it like they did in the movie.
  2. maybe more than 8
  3.  I like most foods but a couple are so/so. I love apples of all kinds, and desserts, but cannot stand applesauce! It gags me because when I was a kid my parents put my medicine in applesauce so I’d take it.
  4.  Small thing, possibly . I just recently tried listening to audiobooks that I check out from the library. It’s hard to find one I like, but so far I’ve liked the ones I heard. I think 3 so far.
  5. A good deal? Hmm one time I won something from a cereal box. So for the cost of a box of cereal I got an ipad. Inside it said I was a winner, so just send in the box top and receipt for the cereal and they’d send me the ipad. And they did!
  6.  Too  many times I’ve been really sick and had to be in the hospital for awhile. Not fun. Knock wood I won’t have to get that sick again.

Writer’s Workshop x 2

For John’s challenge:

https://wordpress.com/reader/feeds/87817150/posts/5937208406

***

Here is the one from this week:

***

  1. Write a post inspired by the word resident.
  2. Write a post in exactly eleven (11) sentences.
  3. Write a story that starts with the line “Sometimes, all you need to do is completely make an ass of yourself and laugh it off to realize that life isn’t so bad after all.”
  4. If it was possible to transplant your brain to stay alive for another 100 years, would you?
  5. What’s something that when you were learning it, you thought you’d never use it, but in reality, you ended up using it a lot?
  6. What is your opinion on tattoos?

I’ll say for # 4 – no, I wouldn’t want my brain pickled in a jar sitting on some scientists shelf for 100 years.

# 5, I can’t really think of anything. Usually if I take the time to learn how to do something, it’s because I want to do it. So, to never use my new skill would be silly.

# 6. I like some tattoos. I don’t like when a person gets them all over themselves including their face and head, etc. Just a few are ok. I think most tattoos should be of something meaningful to the person. I also think some look better than others in the way the finished tattoo looks.

For myself, I have three tattoos. One on my ankle is the word ‘ghost’ in sky blue ink. It was designed by myself in swirly letters.  Tattoo  # 2 is the names of both my grand kids and two stars in between them. It is on my right inside wrist. # 3 is on the other wrist and is a medium size purple peace sign.

I got them all at the same place in Columbia Missouri, in a shop called Blackthorne. All were done by the same lady, and each were about a year apart. I never thought it hurt at all though. It felt a little tickly to me as I watched her inking the designs. It was fun getting them and I’m glad I did. 🙂

Here’s one from awhile back that never got posted:

***

https://wordpress.com/reader/feeds/87817150/posts/5827527479

***

  1. Write a post inspired by the word possession.
  2. Write a post in exactly 7 (seven) sentences.
  3. Write a story starting with the line “The worst thing about being at the top of the career ladder is that there’s a long way to fall.”
  4. What obscure interest do you have? Tell us about it.
  5. Tell us if you’ve ever dated a friend’s sibling, or if a friend dated your sibling, What was it like?
  6. Tell us about something you learned in September.

***

Nothing really stands out to write about, so these will be short I think.

1. Possession = I have a lot of possessions + I don’t want to deal with demon possession.

2. This is sentence # 2 of 7

3. “The worst thing about being at the top of the career ladder is that there’s a long way to fall.” And I don’t have to worry about falling, since I never had a career to begin with.

4. Mummies, ghosts, spirits, paranormal, horror … but everyone already knows this about me.

5. No, I have one sister 5 years younger than me, so the ages were wrong for this kind of situation, and ewww, anyway!

6. Can’t say I learned anything in September.
