Record your Screen with the Chrome Extension

TL;DR

Open extension
Click the InstantDocs extension and confirm you’re signed in.

Choose location
Select the workspace and knowledge base.

Set inputs
Pick recording language and microphone.

Record
Click Record, choose tab/window, then share (3–2–1 countdown).

Finish & enhance
Click stop on the extension, and it will generate a Voiceover script and step-by-step Doc.

Let's Do It Together!

Step 1: Select Workspace

  1. Click on the extension to open the recording options.

  2. Select the Knowledge Base you want to record from the list.

Step 2: Set Recording Preferences

  1. Choose your recording language from the options available.

  2. Select your preferred microphone for recording.

Step 3: Start Recording

  1. Click on the record button.

  2. Select the screen, tab, or window you wish to record.

Your recording will now start, capturing your actions on screen.

Step 4: Manage Your Recording

  1. Click the extension again to pause the recording.

  2. Click resume to continue if needed.

  3. Click discard to delete the recording and start over if you are not satisfied.

  4. Click finish to upload and process your video.

Your video will be processed, creating a Doc with images, GIFs, and steps included.

Step 5: Review Your Document

  1. Wait for the processing to complete.

  2. Your document with images, GIFs, and video will be ready for you to use.

FAQs

Do I need special permissions?
Chrome will ask for Microphone access. Allow it when prompted.
My external mic isn’t showing, what now?
Reconnect it, ensure it’s selected in your OS sound settings, then close and reopen the extension.
Can I pause and resume while recording?
Yes. Open the extension popup during recording to pause. Click Resume in the recording control popup to continue.
I picked the wrong language, can I fix it?
Your language selection controls the transcript, captions, voiceover, and doc text. Set it before recording for best results. If needed, re-record—or translate the generated doc and video later.
How long do upload and processing take?
Usually under a minute, depending on video length and network speed.
Where does the generated content go?
To the knowledge base you selected in Step 1. You can edit and publish from there.
The popup didn’t appear. How do I control the recording?
Click the InstantDocs extension icon again to open the control popup.
Which browsers does the extension work on?
All Chromium-based browsers that support Chrome extensions, including Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc.
