Fairy forest…

Stone bridge over a waterfall in a forest.

this must be a Fairy Forest
you can feel the hush
in spite of the waterfall
the huge rocks behind the beautiful bridge
are full of nooks and crannies
perfect places for tiny fairies to live
of enjoy a meal
they have their underground places as well
of course
but this lush
and heavily forested woods
is one of their favorite environments
so when you find yourself
in a place of wonder
such as this
remain silent
be respectful
leave a tiny gift
like chocolate
or a shiny button
unless you have a violin
or other lovely instrument
and wish to play for them

can become invisible
can fly
and all of them are
war horses
since fairies
fight
a lot
and if they’re not fighting
they’re getting ready to fight
and if they aren’t getting ready to fight
they just finished fighting
so fairy horses
have to be brave
strong
and dedicated
and every single one of them
is beautiful

the fairies and their friends
throw parties
and spend the nights
dancing
to keep warm
and make sure their
wings
don’t freeze up
when it gets too cold
they go home
beneath the earth
where it’s warm and snug
filled with magic
and beauty
they just like to come into
our reality
to play with us
steal us
and torment us
so be very careful
if you’re in the woods
and you see someone
or some thing
that’s to good to be true
because your can bet
your hot chocolate
it is
and you need to
RUN

The World of Fairy…a story poem.

a group of mushrooms sitting on top of a forest floor

the wee folk
live among us
hidden from sight
darting here and there
taking what they will
they live in a world
unseen
because we
took the upper realm
and left them nothing
but the underneath
they will never forget this
you can’t trust them
no matter how beautiful
they are
no matter what they say
they will not rest
until they have
revenge
for what they lost

brown dried leaves display

the falling of leaves
and the crunching sound
of footfalls
alert the wee folk
of our approach
they smile with glee
as they wait for their traps
to be sprung
laughing
as we untangle ourselves
never realizing
how close we have come
to being enslaved

or drink
do not ask questions
because the answers are
never free
never go to their parties
never make any promises
never do
ANYTHING
with fairies
or it may be the
