# 1. Winter … I’m not a fan of winter or cold weather or snow. But, I will say it is pretty when everything is coated with frosty snow, ice, drifts, icicles, because it’s different. The best time I remember was like the song, ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’. We’d been at our neighbor’s house playing cards until after midnight. Might have been New Years Eve/night. We had had snow, maybe a few inches. When we walked home it was dark, quiet, snow gently falling, and you know that sort of glow that snow has … that. Our feet were crunching along, and then we hear a whole flock of geese flying over to land at the lake by the house. They were sounding eerie, hauntingly honking in the air right over our heads. We couldn’t see them, just hear them. Now that was magical.

This is our blue pick-up truck. It’s a Dodge Ram, and we call it Big Blue. We’ve had it a long time, and it’s not fancy at all. It has an old cassette player slot which we never use, and it has crank style window handles to raise or lower the windows.

We don’t have another vehicle, so I’m glad this one keeps on running.

Bird Weekly – Photo Challenge – Flocks of Birds

We have flocks of birds here at different times. Sometimes it’s a flock of grackles being all noisy in the back yard or the trees. Sometimes there are flocks of doves, all trying to eat the cat food on the porches. But the biggest flocks are the Canada Geese that come flying in in the autumn. They are in the thousands, and land on the little lake by our house, staying all winter. They are very noisy, too.

  • Lots of Canada Geese at a local lake
  • Wild turkeys at a friend’s place
  • Canada geese flock flying over
  • Lots more Canada geese flying over
  • Even more Canada geese flying over
  • A flock of buzzards flying high

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Letters U or V

This time we are asked to find photos with the subject letters of U and V.

First is of an underpass by Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, as we were flying over.

Next is a UFO replica at the UFO Museum in Roswell, NM.

That’s all I could find for U.

I kept finding ones for V, though.

Voodoo potato chips, vegetables, vines (Virginia Creeper), and geese flying in a V shape.

52 WEEKS PHOTO CHALLENGE – EMPTY SPACES & Depth of Field

These two weeks for the challenge we were to find photos that show an empty space around the main subject of your photo, and then photos that show a depth of field. I’m not familiar with how to do the depth of field ones. I don’t have a macro camera (?) so just had to find something that was a sort of close up of something, with a blurred background. These probably were not what they were looking for, but sort of close…maybe? 🙂
