These are some Lorikeets we saw at the Kansas City Missouri zoo. They were sure friendly and cute. They have feathers of green, and also blue, yellow, and orange. 🙂

Bird Weekly – Flocks
***
We have flocks of birds here at different times. Sometimes it’s a flock of grackles being all noisy in the back yard or the trees. Sometimes there are flocks of doves, all trying to eat the cat food on the porches. But the biggest flocks are the Canada Geese that come flying in in the autumn. They are in the thousands, and land on the little lake by our house, staying all winter. They are very noisy, too.

Bird Weekly – Domesticated Birds
***
First photo is really old. It’s the green and yellow parakeet we had named Igor. He was a cool bird, who could say a few words – his name, and pretty bird. Here he is sitting on top of large wine bottle that has different colored melted candle wax running down the sides.

This little blue parakeet we saw in the pet store here.

This is a poster/sign at the pet store of a green & yellow parakeet. The caption says, “Will Chirp for seed”.

This is a really pretty red orange colored canary at the pet store.

This is a bronze colored chicken that my cousin had on his farm one year.

These are a couple of big turkeys at my cousin’s farm.

Bird Weekly – Photo Challenge – Yellow or Orange Legged Birds

A real penguin we saw at the Kansas City Zoo with yellow feet, and a stuffed chicken with yellow feet we saw at the farmer’s market one time.
Last photo is of some brownish ducks, one I’m pretty sure is a Mallard, by a local lake. they all have orange feet. 😉 (you can click on the last photo of the ducks to enlarge)

My cousin, Mike, raises exotic chickens.
The first photo shows a large black & white chicken with an elaborate all black feathery head-dress. He calls this one Silver. I think it is a Polish Silver breed of chicken.
The next photo is Mike holding Silver.
The next photo is another kind of chicken he is holding. He calls this one Houdie. Could be because it is a breed of chicken called Houdan. It is a large black and white chicken, with it’s head-dress of feathers of black & white.
Very cool chickens! 🙂

When we visited the Kansas City Zoo, we saw a lot of different kinds of birds. Here’s a few:

And this is just a black bird on the back porch. I think it is a grackle.

Bird Weekly # 4 – Ducks & Geese
***
This looks to be a Muscovy Duck. It is mostly black with a few white spots. He has a distinctive red area around the eyes. This one was at a local park.

This one is a Canada Goose. We have thousands that winter over at our lake by the house. I always love seeing them.

Here are some more ducks:

And a funny joke!

Bird Weekly # 3 – Waders
***
I think this is some kind of heron. We see them at the lake by our house all the time, but this one flew over the houses that day.
***
This is a white stork we saw at the Kansas City Missouri Zoo last year. She is white, with some black along the wing edges, and red around the eyes. Her beak is orange. There is also a baby stork with the large stork. They are getting a drink from a black bowl.
