Candid is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive data and insights about the social sector, informing individuals and organization where the money supporting nonprofits comes from, where it goes, and why it matters. This helps potential donors find nonprofits capable of tackling critical challenges and opportunities. Candid additionally provides information in the Foundation Directory that helps nonprofit organizations find funders to support their work. Funders and individuals can also look to GuideStar to verify and research nonprofit organizations that are aligned with their priorities, after creating a free profile.

Candid was formed in 2019 when GuideStar (1994) and Foundation Center (1956) merged. Information on Candid’s programs, financials, operations, and other services are available at their GuideStar profile, including an audited financial statement and annual report.

Candid offers both free services (with a profile) and fee-related services. Over 99% of people who access data from Candid do so for free; there are more than 3 million users registered for free offerings. Candid offers data for those with deeper analytical needs for a fee. For nonprofits, Candid also provides information, resources, and training related to securing funding opportunities. Access to GuideStar and the Foundation Directory are also provided through 400 community partners, giving local communities access by hosts such as libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit resource centers.
