Overview

Work Shift is a digital hub for news, analysis, and opinion focused on how education and training can deliver the talent and opportunity that society needs.

The news organization stresses it is independent and nonpartisan, with a commitment to transparency. In July 2024, Work Shift announced new funding from Cognizant, GitLab Foundation, Kapor Foundation, and Walmart. The initiative is enabling scaling of Work Shift’s coverage of AI and economic opportunity to deepen the coverage of how technologies are reshaping learning and work.

Through this initiative, Work Shift is delivering in-depth reporting and insights on:

  • experiences of workers and learners as they navigate a new AI-driven skills race
  • strategies leveraged by employers and regional economies to adapt to these technological advancements and talent need
  • original reporting on AI’s multifaceted impact on economic opportunity
  • the rapidly evolving landscape.

Work Shift also launched the podcast, The Cusp. It features interviews with decision-makers, experts, and innovators at the forefront of how AI is transforming the learn-and-work ecosystem.
