The 2025 Guangzhou Michelin Guide is released, and the new generation of local catering power is rising.
Guangzhou, July 2 (Reporter Guo Jun) The 2025 Guangzhou Michelin Guide was officially released in Guangzhou on the 2nd. The list includes 112 restaurants, among which there are 3 Michelin two-star restaurants, 18 Michelin one-star restaurants, 45 Bib Gourmand recommended restaurants, and 46 Michelin Guide selected restaurants.
It is reported that the winners of the three individual awards in this list are all '90s' young restaurateurs. 'In the past year, Guangzhou's restaurateurs have always strived for excellence in the face of challenges, adhering to ancient techniques while also daring to open up new avenues, and pushing the essence of Cantonese cuisine to new heights.' Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of Michelin Guide, said: 'What is even more exciting is that the younger generation is gradually becoming the main force, injecting fresh blood into the catering industry of Guangzhou. At the same time, the skills of the older generation have also been well inherited.'

The street food flavors beloved by the old Guangzhou people are still continuously receiving attention from Michelin selectors. Four restaurants appear for the first time on the Bib Gourmand recommendation list: Song Yuan, which excels in traditional Cantonese cuisine, Guangdong-style roast, stir-fried dishes, and pot dishes; Qi Chi Xiang × Da Tou Hui, which features soup as a major specialty, with a soup base simmered with pork shank for over 4 hours, rich in aroma; Zhou Men Chuan Cheng, which uses the traditional craft of bamboo pole noodles, with handmade noodles that are very springy and bouncy, and also provides a variety of choices such as fresh meat wonton noodles, beef brisket noodles, shrimp roe noodles, and pork hand noodles; and the Yueng Zok restaurant, which offers congee, has moved to a more spacious location and still focuses on Shaozhou-style fish congee and rice noodles as the main offerings, with the congee broth made from large bones, rich and aromatic, with the rice grains full and distinct, paired with various marine fish and dried goods, which are very delicious.
Similarly, the Michelin Guide's selection of restaurants also includes five new faces, including the smile-filled restaurant and Hongtang序, which offer Cantonese cuisine; Gu Yuan, led by a young chef, providing seasonal vegetable meal sets; Lu Wei, an innovative cuisine restaurant led by a young chef; and Zhizhu Plant Kitchen, a vegetarian restaurant that is affordable and creative. Vegetarian restaurants that emphasize fresh vegetables and advocate for sustainable development are injecting a refreshing breeze into Guangzhou's culinary scene.
