For Di’s challenge:

Three Things Challenge #MM192

Your three words today are:
TRASHY
FOLLOWER
UNWANTED

***

Instructions for bloggers who have an unwanted, trashy, troll follower:

1. ignore – they will go away if they get no feedback

2. delete – get rid of them for the day

3. report them/block them – sometimes this works

4. Make an ugly face at your computer/or phone when you see them pop up again – say “Ugh not again!”

5. Get a voodoo doll and stick pins in it while you say incantations of doom on them.

6. Cry, because your finger is sore from pushing the delete button so much, and you broke a fingernail from jamming that button so hard.

7. Tell everyone you know on social media to look out for this person/name/creep. Warn them.

8. Go back to # 1 – ignore them, they will disappear one of these days.

For today’s SLS, Jim has asked us to post a song we know all the lyrics to.

***

Songs I know all the words to. There are so  many. Or so I think. The more I thought about it, I don’t really know every word in the songs I like to sing along to. If I see and/or listen to the video, or hear it on the radio, I can sing along just fine, but there I’m missing a few words, and maybe I’m a fraction of a second behind what I’m hearing which gives me a clue to the words. I don’t know. So, if you ask me to sing it all on my own, no music, no clues, or to write down the lyrics, I probably could not do it.

Now, I do know a lot of lyrics, at least the main ones, of Christmas songs. This one is my favorite, it only has a few words repeated, and yes, I know them all! yay!

***

“Feliz Navidad”, written by Jose Feliciano in 1970. It is on the RCA Victor label. In 2010 this song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Lyrics are on the video, but they are easy to remember as they repeat a lot. 🙂

Feliz Navidad = Happy Christmas or Merry Christmas

Prospero ano y Felicidad = A Prosperous New Year and Happiness

***

***

Now, this one, I’d say I know most of the words … there’s a few I know I miss.

Singing flowers, squirrels, and birds, what could be better!

Just another fun song to sing along to. It’s funny that some songs sound so happy, yet are about break-ups, or being unsure of a relationship. I guess upbeat music, and smiles help you carry on with whatever is going on in your life. Good way to be!

***

“Build Me Up Buttercup”, by the Foundations, was released in 1968. It was written by Mike d’Abo, and Tony Macaulay, and is on the Pye,Uni label.

[Chorus]
Why do you build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down? (Let me down)
And mess me around
And then, worst of all (Worst of all)
You never call, baby
When you say you will (Say you will)
But I love you still
I need you (I need you)
More than anyone, darling
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, don’t break my heart

[Verse 1]
“I’ll be over at ten”, you told me time and again
But you’re late, I wait around and then (Ba-dah-dah)
I went to the door, I can’t take any more
It’s not you, you let me down again (Hey, hey, hey)

[Pre-Chorus]
Baby, baby, try to find (Hey, hey, hey)
A little time and I’ll make you happy (Hey, hey, hey)
I’ll be home, I’ll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh

[Chorus]
Why do you build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down? (Let me down)
And mess me around
And then, worst of all (Worst of all)
You never call, baby
When you say you will (Say you will)
But I love you still
I need you (I need you)
More than anyone, darling
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, don’t break my heart

[Verse 2]
To you, I’m a toy, but I could be the boy you adore
If you’d just let me know (Ba-dah-dah)
Although you’re untrue, I’m attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so? (Hey, hey, hey)
[Pre-Chorus]
Baby, baby, try to find (Hey, hey, hey)
A little time and I’ll make you happy (Hey, hey, hey)
I’ll be home, I’ll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh[Chorus]
Why do you build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down? (Let me down)
And mess me around
And then, worst of all (Worst of all)
You never call, baby
When you say you will (Say you will)
But I love you still
I need you (I need you)
More than anyone, darling
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, don’t break my heart
[Outro]
I-I-I need you more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (Build me up)
Buttercup, don’t break my heart

Pizza Surprise – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – SOCS – Sup

Pizza Surprise – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – SOCS – Sup

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 7/18

***

Here’s what our hostess, Linda G. Hill, has given us for our SOCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “sup.” Use it as a word or find a word that contains it. Have fun!

Thanks, Linda!

***

So, I quickly thought up some words that have ‘sup’ in them…well, these start with those letters. I’m sure there are more, but I didn’t look up any. Here’s the words I thought of to use:

  • Supper
  • supernatural
  • suppose
  • supreme
  • suppress
  • super
  • supercilious

Now, I’m going to try to make up a silly little story using the words, off the top of my head as I’m typing this.

Pizza Surprise

I decided to actually go out for my supper last night. That is, the evening meal. Pizza sounded pretty good, so I found a place not too far away. It’s a new restaurant that opened up recently, and is called Magic Pizza.

As I entered the funky establishment I was happily surprised. It looked like my kind of place, what with all the cool, hippie type decorations. So far, so good, I thought. I sat at a table, because this was actually a pretty fancy place for a pizza hangout. A waiter approached, bearing an oversized menu.

“For your perusal,” he said. (I thought he was being supercilious to the  max, and almost couldn’t suppress a giggle)

suppose he was just doing his job, though, so I smiled and said, “Super!)

I ordered the kind of pizza I wanted…a Supreme, with everything on it in the way of toppings. When it was brought to my table, it looked delicious…and it was.

Soon, I was full and feeling fine. So fine, I began singing a song, right there in front of everyone. That is so not like me, as I just can’t sing in tune, and normally would be embarrassed to break out in song with people watching me.

What’s going on? I couldn’t stop! Other customers were clapping and singing along with me. Then, the haughty waiter approached me again with the menu.

“For your perusal,” he said (again) and gave me a wink. “Read the small print,” he advised.

I could barely focus on the little words, but realization dawned on me. Magic Pizza…magic mushrooms…ohhh…

I started laughing hysterically at my not so supernatural experience at the Magic Pizza Parlor.

I believe I’ll be coming back again, soon!

Small beads for stringing

A poem I wrote May 24th, 2015

Stringing Beads

Nothing, nothing, nothing will come

It’s driving me batty…I’ve come undone

My inner critic is laughing, it’s true

But really and truly, I’m feeling blue

No verses, no prose, not even a pun

Who ever said that writing is fun?

My mind is full of tripe and nonsense

The words are there, but they make me wince

I string them together by one and twos

Then scratch them out, too scattered to choose

How many days must this go on?

The more I try, the more I’m alone

My muse, I think, has gone on vacation

Leaving me here with no inspiration

Can’t focus on anything…my thoughts on the run

And until I catch them, the race is not done

So, now I continue to sit on the fence

Which leaves me feeling frustrated and tense

Hey, wait…wait just a darn minute

A break in the clouds…I think I’m still in it

I have an idea, and it may be silly

But, no matter the trail be rocky and hilly

I’ll give it a try…see where it leads

Thread words together, like string through the beads

Chapter?

Standard

Chapter?

***

📚📚📚

So, I was thinking about this word. The more I looked at it and said it to myself and out loud, the weirder it sounded.

Where did this word come from, and why do books always have them? I’ve read books forever and it’s true. Some books actually divide up parts into chapters and say so right there on the page. Other don’t say it’s a new chapter – just have the word one or two or whatever, and others just have some space before starting new thoughts.

When a kid is learning to like and read books, they start with a picture book. That’s pretty simple. Then they have a few short words to read, gradually adding more. Later they graduate to books with chapters. From what I’ve heard, this is a big deal for kids, to begin reading chapter books. We never called it that when I was a kid, though. Guess we didn’t call it anything.

Now, where did this word come from? I’ll google it.

From Wiki:

The first known use of chapter was in the 13th century
English word chapter comes from Proto-Indo-European *kaput-, and later Proto-Italic *kaput (Head.)
***
Well, that was a trip down the rabbit hole of information. Interesting, but too much to list here. Look it up if you want to.
***
Still, when I think of the word chapter, I think of having chapped hands. It always happens in the fall and winter, no matter how much lotion I use.
Also, I think of cowboys wearing chaps while riding their horses.
These have nothing to do with books and chapters, though.
I like chapters in books. It gives us a place to take a break from reading if you need to. Or an excuse to keep reading as in ‘just one more chapter’ …

Stream of Consciousness Saturday –

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 17/2020

For SOCS today we’re supposed to think of a word we have trouble spelling.

I’ve been thinking and thinking and I just know there are some I have to look up sometimes, but can’t really think of any until I’m actually trying to type them. Maybe those like ‘autumn’, or ‘column’ …those mn words? I never understand why the ‘n’ letter is stuck onto the end. I don’t have to look up the spelling on them, though.

Sheesh – I can’t think of any right now, but sure as soon as I’m done with this, I’ll think of one, of course.

The most trouble I have is transposing letters – reversing how they go – so I have to backspace and do it over. That happens a lot, maybe because I type really fast, and my fingers get ahead of the word. haha

I’ve always been good at spelling, so unless it’s a really strange word, I usually spell it right the first time. Sometimes I’ll check to make sure, though.

Well, hope all of you are having a lovely a u t u m n day! 🙂

And when you are done

Close the book shaped cages

Know the words have the power
