The theme this week is It’s all Greek to Me.
Have some fun with dreaming up who these ‘familiar people’ were or what they could be remembered for (or whatever your mind comes up with).

1.  Perseus  … A Dr. Seuss biography, which means according to …  ‘as per Seuss says’

2.  Ares … A brand of air mattresses to soften your sleeping bed.

3.  Achilles … A hot, spicy peper ingredient in Mexican food, especially chilli.

4.  Poseidon …A course lesson on how to be poised for aspiring models.

5.  Medusa … A chain of fitness spas for losing weight – reducing = Medusa/Redusa

6.  Athena … The female equivalent of Nike shoes are called Athena

7.  Hades … A short hand word meaning ‘shades’ or sunglasses – shades, is called ‘Hades

8.  Apollo … This is the fruit god of computer companies.

9.  Cronos … This is the money of some of the countries around the world, I think.

1o. Hermes  … The Goddess of fashionable silk scarves.

  • Cachinnate … This is an additive put into dairy products like milk, ice cream, and cheese.
  • Cacoethes … This is what happens to your clothes when you take them to the dry cleaner shop – deadly chemicals get all over them.
  • Callipygian … This is that funny looking picture writing in Egyptian pyramids.
  • Confabulate … This is swishing and churning motions inside your washing machine.
  • Cankerblossom … Eww I hope you never get this disease.
  • Chicanery … This is a wood product that you add for flavoring in coffee, and also can be burned in your BBQ grill.
  • Cloff … This is how a toddler child tries to say ‘cloth’, probably referring to their favorite little blanket.
  • Canorous … This is a dinosaur that was so small nobody even cared to classify it, but still it lived… it lived … and still does!
  • Coxcomb … This is an employee on a sailing ship in the old days – a navigator type of job.
  • Clishmaclaver … This is an electric sterilizing machine used in hospitals and beauty shops to clean metal instruments.

This is the last FF before Christmas, so I am recycling my Panto questions from 18th December 2020.

Hope you can have some fun with these, even if you took part before.

I did look back and found I only answered 4 of the questions and never posted it that time.

1. Why is a Pantomime thus called? … I don’t know why they named this brand of shampoo Pantomime.

2. Why was the White Rabbit late? … His big old pocket watch battery ran down, so he didn’t know what time it was.

3. What happened when Aladdin rubbed the lamp for the first time? … Nothing, so he tried it two more times. Three times is the charm.

4. How many ugly sisters were there? … Four and twenty.

5. What did Jack exchange for the magic beans? He exchanged his bag of left over Halloween candy.

6. Why do they always shout ‘It’s behind you!!’ … Because they make you look behind you while they are picking your pocket.
7. What was the house in the woods made of that Hansel and Gretel found? … It was made of leather, because it was a giant shoe shaped house. The witch was the old woman in the shoe with all the kids.

8. Who owned The Mirror Mirror on the wall? … The bank, because it wasn’t paid for yet.

9. What was the name of Dick Whittington’s cat? … Clock, because every hour of every day is time to pay attention to the cat!

10. Who was Tinkerbell?  Tinkerbell was Peter Pan’s alter ego. When he wasn’t being a hero, he turned into a fairy.

1. Vemödalen … An old timey musical instrument to play melodies on.

2. Anecdoche … These are what is known as scribblings on cave walls.

3. Ellipsism … The new age leg shaver, and when it yanks out the hairs, it hurts! I tried it once, and only once!

4. Kuebiko … A stage play they do without words, but beautiful costumes, in Japan.

5. Lachesism … This is the hardware metal piece that you put on your gate to keep it closed – a latch.

6. Exulansis … The lost city in the Bermuda Triangle

7. Adronitis … This is the gemstone you need to wear, or rub on your arthritic fingers.

8. Onism … This is a little condiment dispenser that has salt & pepper in one small jar.

9. Altschmerz … This is the little red light that comes on in your car to have your alternator checked out at the service station.

10. Occhiolism … A famous trail in old west days for cattle drives.

This week my theme is “Colour Me Surprised”.
What are your thoughts or suggestions on these please?

1. Who do you associate with ‘green fingers’? … Maybe you were finger painting with green.

2. Who or what was the Red Baron? … Well, of course it’s the company that makes frozen pizza.

3. What was the significance of yellow ribbons around oak trees? … They indicated the way to the Yellow Brick Road.

4. Why did Alice follow the White Rabbit? … Because it stole the book she was reading, and she wanted it back.

5. Who was The Black Knight? … The car Knight Rider drove named Kit.

6. What is a Blue Moon? … It’s a local Japanese restaurant. Also I had some Blue Moon charms for making earrings and such.

7. Do brown cows produce coloured milk? … I wish they did.

8. Why was the Pink Panther pink? … He ate too much cotton candy.

 

9. Why are pandas black and white? … Because they want to be able to hide in either light or shadow.

10. What is a Silver Shadow? … It’s a slimy snail trail.

Familiar or maybe not so familiar phrases this week.
What are your interpretations for these?

1. “A few sandwiches short of a picnic” … This is what Yogi Bears says when he looks into the Forest Ranger’s pic-a-nik basket.

2. “Bagsy” … The one name of the famous artist who sculpts figures out of trash bags.

3. “Bog-standard” … This is just a routine archeologist’s discovery of the Peat Bog Man that’s mummified.

4. “Budge up” … This is just a cute little budgie parakeet you are raising and trying to get it to talk.

5. “Chinwag” … This is a slang word for a goat.

6. “Faff” … This is the foam on top of beer that is poured into a glass.

7. “Full Monty” … This is the highest level of rank in the RCMP – a full Mounty.

8. “Give me a tinkle on the blower” … This would be a request to play a tune on the pipe organ.

9. “On it like a car bonnet” … This is a funny idiom in southern areas, meaning they are ordering a fajita carbon. I’ve had them and they are good.

10. “Tickety-boo” … A ritual dance by shouting and raising their tiki torches up to the evening sky.

Here are the new questions for Fibbing Friday. Our hostess, Di says:

I’m no Shakespeare but how would you use/continue these famous lines?

***

1. What light through yonder window breaks?  … When the baseball crashes through the window … run!

2. Alas, poor Yorick………………..He got caught after breaking the window with his baseball. He didn’t run fast or far enough.

3. Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? … Yorick’s partner in crime – he threw the baseball that Yorick hit with the bat, that crashed into the window of the neighbor’s house.

4. To be, or not to be…………………….truthful, when he was also caught running away with Yorick.

5. All the World’s a stage……………………The two culprits of the baseball fiasco, were on display in the juvenile courts, while parents, neighbors, judge, jury, and other interested parties met for the trial.

6. All that glisters………… Tears glittered on the two kid’s cheeks as they cried out their apologies for breaking the window.

7. Give every man thy ear…………… The judge and jury listened carefully to all concerned before passing sentence.

8. Neither a borrower nor a lender be ….. The judge lectured the boys – don’t borrow trouble by playing ball near houses, and don’t lend to their troubles by running away.

9. Many a true word…………The boys took to heart the judges decree, agreed to work hard to earn money to pay for the window, and pledged their word never to do it again.

10. Do not swear by the moon……………..Unbeknownst to all gathered, it was a full moon cycle, the boys had their fingers crossed to un-do any consequences they incurred, as they swore to walk the straight and narrow from now own.

Next day they were out there again playing baseball near the houses in the neighborhood. Did they learn their lesson … I think not.

Let’s have a bit of fantasy this week. What can you come up with for these?

1. Who’s home planet is Skaro? … Puff the Magic Dragon lives there.

2. What would you expect to find in Dinotopia? … Lots of yummy tapioca pudding.

3. Who was born on Krypton? … Not who, but what … Krylon spray paints … well the inventors of the paints. Grafiti artists are forever thankful.

4. Where can you find Plutonium ? … In those olden days stores that sold waterbeds, the waveless kind.

5. What colour blood would a Martian have? … No blood, just filled with Martinis – olive or onion included.

6. Who’s home planet is Gallifrey? … Huh? Is Gallifrey a planet or a person? I give up.

7. Who’s home world is Eternia? … The mystress of darkness, Elvira.

8. What was the Hyborian Age? … This was a period of time (5 years) that everything and everybody was boring.

9. Where would you find Pellucidar? … By the seaside/ocean … peculiar pelicans parade proudly

10. What is Thedas? … It’s those fun sounds in songs when you don’t have the words … the da da da, the do do do, and things like that.

6. What is a Glaucus Atlanticus? … A tinkling sounding musical instrument like a hand held harp.

7. What is a Sunda Colugo? … A specialty  hors d’oeuvres served on crackers

8. What is a Fossa? … A Fossa is an electric tooth flossing machine.

9. What is Halitrephes Jelly? … This is a sweet jellied desert made from maple tree sap.

10. What does it mean to be Aliferous? … If you’re Aliferous, you smell good.
