Throwback Thursday – (poems) O My Love

Standard

OCTPOWRIMO – # 5 – O MY LOVEIMG_20150928_151453

For OctPoWriMo day # 5, we were to try to capture a feeling…to show, not tell. I’ve tried a couple, but first a definition or two.

Three words I’ve used have to do with music.

Crescendo – a gradual increase in volume

Diminuendo – a diminishing, or decrescendo, of volume

Dal Niente – From nothing…gradually increasing out of silence

~

This first poem form is called Shadorma.  Shadorma is believed to have originated in Spain, but that is questionable, from what I read about it. It is however, widely used nowadays. The form it takes is using 6 lines, with the syllable count as follows: 3,5,3,3, 7, 5, which is one stanza. You may have as many stanzas as you want, keeping to the same syllable count throughout. It is not necessary to rhyme.

So, this first one I did as Shadorma. The second one is just free-verse, as I tried to capture the emotions and feelings of a relationship.

O MY LOVE

Crescendo

Emotional high

Crashing down

Death calls you

Leave me with only your Ghost

Diminuendo

OUR SONG

Young love, you and I

Musical high

Heartbeats in tune

Kiss under the moon

Crescendo

*

Together forever

Forever together

Though years have begun to fade

Sweet memories we have made

Dimineundo

*

You went home before me

O how can this be

I’ve endured this much too long

Tonight my love, tonight my dear

I’ll join you in our song

These hands will soon be moldy

Just ‘a-layin’ in my grave

My legs will grow some fuzzies

All green and violet blue

My hair will be all tangled

As webs are woven through

By a hitchhiking little spider

Whose number was up, too

My nails will grow a bit longer

As my fingers shrink and dry

My eyes will be glazed over

Milky white and sticky goo

There will be red blood vessels

Also poking through.

And on the night of All Souls Day

My essence will form a mist

I’ll ooze out from my casket as

An eerie little whisp

Re-forming above that mound of dirt

My new born soul will roam

I’ll haunt the places that I love and

Be welcomed happily home

If you ever go poking

Deep down in my grave

I won’t be there all alone

But as a greeting when you pry off that lid,

I’ve left you a message right there on my phone

Thank you for visiting!

I’ll visit you soon!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Things People Visit

CFFC: Things People Visit

***

People visit many different things in the world. Here are just a few places I’ve visited in the past.

  • Kansas City Zoo
  • Buddy Holley (Holly) Gravesite
  • Bathrooms (cute Spanish language labeled women and men doors)
  • Historic Hotel used in a movie

We all need to visit a restroom from time to time …

Outside doors to the women’s (Mujer) and men’s (Hombres) bathrooms in a Mexican restaurant. The doors are turquoise blue and the walls are red.

Historic Hotel

This door is for going into the Paisano Hotel, in Marfa TX. The hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places, and was built in 1930. It is famous because back in 1955 the Warner Brothers Movie Studio, came to Marfa to film the movie,”Giant”. It starred Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean. All the cast and crew stayed at this hotel for a few weeks.

When we were there a few years ago, we toured the many rooms which featured historical information about the film. It is a beautiful hotel, and is still in business today.

Rock ‘n Roll

Buddy Holly

***

Rock ‘n Roll Stole My Soul … that’s a saying that is on one of my tank tops. I wear it a lot. I’ve loved rock music ever since I first heard any. Music makes the world go round, or is that love? “I love rock ‘n roll music. dah dah dah…” whatever the rest of the words go to that song.

“Rave On”, by Buddy Holly, was released in 1958. It was written by Sonny West, Bill Tilghman, and Norman Petty, and is on the Coral label.

Yes, the first thing I thought about for the prompt of ‘roll/role’ was the legendary rock ‘n roll musician, Buddy Holly.

Our city is the hometown of this gifted man, and we do have the Buddy Holly Center, a museum, a statue, and even streets named after him. He is buried in our city cemetery, and I’ve seen it many times. People leave guitar picks at the site.

Buddy Holly got his start right here, and even played his music at our skating rink back in the day. This was before my time of skating there, though. I think I heard that my aunt went to school with him…high school.

The place where the statue is, is called the Walk of Fame, and there are plaques with all the names of musicians, and actors who have come from here, and the areas near here. There are a lot of them.

The museum with all things Buddy Holly, also has a gift shop, where you can buy most anything you can think of to do with him. I’ve been there a lot of times.

Anyway, seeing the prompt ‘roll’ was a good one to get me thinking of rock ‘n roll, but then I do that all the time, anyway.

Have a fun Saturday, and enjoy some music of your choice. 🙂
