Throwback Thursday – (poems) O My Love

Standard

OCTPOWRIMO – # 5 – O MY LOVEIMG_20150928_151453

For OctPoWriMo day # 5, we were to try to capture a feeling…to show, not tell. I’ve tried a couple, but first a definition or two.

Three words I’ve used have to do with music.

Crescendo – a gradual increase in volume

Diminuendo – a diminishing, or decrescendo, of volume

Dal Niente – From nothing…gradually increasing out of silence

~

This first poem form is called Shadorma.  Shadorma is believed to have originated in Spain, but that is questionable, from what I read about it. It is however, widely used nowadays. The form it takes is using 6 lines, with the syllable count as follows: 3,5,3,3, 7, 5, which is one stanza. You may have as many stanzas as you want, keeping to the same syllable count throughout. It is not necessary to rhyme.

So, this first one I did as Shadorma. The second one is just free-verse, as I tried to capture the emotions and feelings of a relationship.

OUR SONG

Young love, you and I

Musical high

Heartbeats in tune

Kiss under the moon

Crescendo

Together forever

Forever together

Though years have begun to fade

Sweet memories we have made

Dimineundo

You went home before me

O how can this be

I’ve endured this much too long

Tonight my love, tonight my dear

I’ll join you in our song
