Naturally Flowing Water

Today’s prompt is…

November 23, 2025 – Song that mentions River/Stream/Creek/Brook suggested by Di of pensitivity101

***

There are lots of songs that include some kind of water in the lyrics. Funny that the size of the water determines what it is called. Ocean = huge, River = smaller than ocean but can be pretty big, Stream = smaller than a river, brook = even smaller than a stream. I probably have seen all of these at one time or another.

Here’s a couple of songs I really like a lot. Thanks Di, for the suggestion.

“Where the River Flows”, by Collective Soul, is on their 1996 album of the same name. It was written by Ed Roland, and is on the Atlantic label. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_River_Flows

Give me a momentGot to get this weight up off my chestDon’t feed me sorrowPain is a poison I digest
Find yourself another soul to hold(You think, you thought, I know)Off upon my journey I must go(To where the river flows, to where the river flows)
I’ll give you answersTo the questions you have yet to askSilence is beautyWords, they only complicate the task
Find yourself another soul to hold(You think, you thought, I know)Off upon my journey I must go(To where the river flows, to where the river flows)
Make no more wishesAll of my patience has been spentGods of the seasonLead me to my next incident
Find yourself another soul to hold(You think, you thought, I know)Off upon my journey I must go(To where the river flows)
Find yourself another soul to hold(You think, you thought, I know)Off upon my journey I must go(To where the river flows, to where the river flows, to where the river flows)

SOCS – Water

For Linda’s challenge:

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS June 22, 2024

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “water.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Water … what can I say about water? I drink it, cook with it, wash with it, it’s either cold, hot, or warm … it’s a liquid.

My favorite way to have water is in the form of ice. I drink plenty of water, with ice, and we have iced tea all day long, made with water and ice to make it cold.

The ICE freezer where we get bagged crushed ice at the grocery store.

I used to swim in a pool when I was a kid. I wouldn’t now. I’ve never swam in a lake or river or ocean, and I never ever would. First of all there would be fish in there, and I hate fish, plus you know what fish do in the water? Yeah, you do. Ick! Ick! Ick!

I like rain water. Rain is refreshing after our hot dry and dusty days here. We sometimes just go stand out in the rain.

I’m glad our houses have running water. It seems like it would have been very hard to have to pump water or haul water back in the old days.

But we did haul water a lot, in the very recent past. Where we lived, the water was so horrible tasting and smelling and bad that everyone we knew would drive 5 miles to another place where we could fill up jugs with water to take home. (this was before there were water mill places on every corner like now)

And, now we mostly buy bottled water to drink, but use tap water for everything else.

I saw this round blue metal street cap thing in Kansas City Missouri, I don’t know what it is called, but it is embossed with KCMO Water, and has a symbol of a water spout fountain. I think it is so workers can get under the street to work on water pipes.

SPLASH

Standard

Hello! I’ll be taking part in a poetry writing course, given by the Daily Post, and Blogging U. It is called Writing 201: Poetry. Every day, for the next two weeks, we’ll be given a prompt, and a poetry form to try out, if we want to use them. Hopefully, this will help me learn more, and expand my writing into new areas. Hope you enjoy the ones I come up with, but if poetry is not your favorite thing to read, that’s fine. They will be under the Poetry category in the sidebar menu, and if you’d rather read something else, feel free to browse around. Comments are always welcome, and I do thank you for visiting! 🙂

~

This first form of poetry that was suggested was Haiku, and the form to try was a simile. The prompt word was Water.
