Well, this is a fun prompt, and there are so many great songs and movies to choose from!
This is one of our favorite movies, and we’ve watched it many times. The story is fun, and the music is great.
It is about a small town group of friends back in the 60s, who are trying to make it big as a rock and roll band.
There is so much excitement when they first hear their song played on the radio, and there is drama between girlfriends & boyfriends.
It is Tom Hanks directorial debut, and he also stars in the movie.
From the Wiki article:
That Thing You Do! is a 1996 American music comedy film starring, written and directed by Tom Hanks in his directorial debut. It tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional 1960s one-hit wonder pop band. The film also resulted in a musical hit with the song “That Thing You Do“.
This is the full story of how the movie came about and it’s very interesting:

You
Doing that thing you do
Breaking my heart into a million pieces
Like you always do
And you
Don’t mean to be cruel
You never even knew about the heartache
I’ve been going through
Well, I try and try to forget you, girl
But it’s just so hard to do
Every time you do that thing you do
I
Know all the games you play
And I’m gonna find a way to let you know that
You’ll be mine someday
‘Cause we
Could be happy, can’t you see?
If you’d only let me be the one to hold you
And keep you here with me
‘Cause I try and try to forget you, girl
But it’s just so hard to do
Every time you do that thing you do
But I know one thing’s for sure (know one thing’s for sure)
It’s the love I haven’t got, girl
And I just can’t take it anymore, wah!
[Guitar solo]
‘Cause we
Could be happy, can’t you see?
If you’d only let me be the one to hold you
And keep you here with me
‘Cause it hurts me so just to see you go
Around with someone new
And if I know you, you’re doing that thing
Every day just doing that thing
I can’t take you doing that thing you do

One more of our favorite movies and songs.
- Snakes on a Plane, an action thriller, was released in 2006. It starred Sammuel L. Jackson, Julianna Margulies, and Nathan Phillips. I liked this one because it really made me jump when the snakes would pop out. I think we saw this at the movies about 4 times, and I then bought the DVD. And, it has a song at the end that I really like.

Times are strange
We’ve got a free upgrade
For snakes on a plane
Fuck ’em, I don’t care
Pop the cheap champagne
We’re going down in flames, hey
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
It’s time to fly
Tonight the sky’s alive
With lizards serpentine
Lounging in their suits and ties
Watch the whore’s parade
For the price of fame, hey
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
Ladies and gentlemen,
These snakes is slitherin’
With dollar signs in their eyes
With tongues so reptilians
This industry’s venomous
With cold-blooded sentiments
No need for nervousness
It’s just a little turbulence
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
We seem to be losing altitude at an alarming pace
From midtown to downtown
Snakes on a blog
I suggest you grab your ankles and kiss your ass goodbye
Songwriters: David Katz / Gabe Saporta / Sam Hollander / Travis Mccoy
