Odd little list

***

From time to time we’ve noticed our grocery store list kind of has one stand out letter that starts the items. It’s unintentional, just the way it happens that we need these things. But they come in groups, like today’s is the letter B. We have on the list so far …

Beer, bananas, batteries, birthday card (for grand-daughter), proBiotics,  and the outlier … mouse traps.

Some days it’s a different letter that shows up. haha

Be A Wise Guy July – Final 3 & Clues

For Bee’s Challenge:

Be A Wise Guy July  – Share A Song & Quote from your Favourite Musicians – Thank You For The Music

***

For July, Bee has invited everyone to share a song and a quote, every day this month. See details in the link above. Thanks, Bee! 🙂

***

As an extra fun thing for me to do, is all the songs I’ll showcase this month will have something in common. They are all different, and by different bands and artists, and types, but something will connect them all. It is up to you to find out what it is! 🙂

🔎  Clues are after the songs!  What is your guess for the connections all the songs this July have in common?

***

Thank you, Bee! This has been a really fun month of music. I enjoyed finding songs for your challenge. Thanks everyone who visited, liked and commented on these posts! Much appreciated. ❤️

You have to go through those mountains and valleys – because that’s what life is: soul growth.

“Crazy On You”, by Heart, was realeased from their 1976 album, “Dremboat Annie. It was written by Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson.

***

I used to try and make up visually for what I couldn’t play as a musician. I used to get into very incredible visual things where, in order just to make one chord more lethal, I’d make it a really lethal looking thing, whereas really it’s just going to be picked normally. ~ Pete Townshend

“Won’t Be Fooled Again”, by The Who, is from their 1971 album, “Who’s Next”. It was written by Pete Townshend.

SOCS – walk

For Linda’s challenge:

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 31, 2025

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “walk.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

***

I don’t do much walking, as it’s too hard for me to do anymore. So I was just thinking of songs that have walk in the title or lyrics. Without looking anything up on google, here’s a list of the ones that come to mind automatically.

1. I Walk the Line

2. Walk Like an Egyptian

3. I Walk Alone

4. These Boots are Made For Walking

5. Walk Right In

6. Walking to Missouri

7. Walking In Memphis

8. Walk This Way

9. I’m Walking

10.

And I ran out of them…. so … I then went ahead and googled songs that have walk in the title or lyrics. Hmmm There are a whole bunch more of them I’d forgotten about, like

1. Walk of Life

2. Walking on Sunshine

3. Walk Away Renee

4. Walk Don’t Run

And there were even more in some of those lists. I’ll bet you’ve heard most all of these at  one time or another, too.

Here’s one I remember from years ago, and still like it. 🙂

“I’m Walking”, by Fats Domino (1957). Also, in 2019 his song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame

30 Thoughts About Boxes

Standard

30 Thoughts About Boxes

***

I was thinking about boxes the other night, just kind of listing all the things I could come up with. Here are some:

***

1. Box – a box made of cardboard or plastic – mostly square, but can be rectangle, circle, triangle, or heart shaped. They can be flat, tall, deep and wide, too.

2.  I worked at a box manufacturing company one time, just in the office. But, one time I had to go back to the production area to help them correct a mistake they made. In printing on the boxes, they forgot to add a number, so I was to take a black marker and write the number on every single box… so many boxes during that production run! haha

3. We had a box turtle named Herbie one time. He ran around the house – well ran is relative – he was a turtle. But for a turtle he was fast. The dogs liked Herbie.

4. When we had cats, they loved to sit in any box, big or little.

5.  Years ago my aunt had a boxer dog.

6. Do you like the toy called Jack-in-the-box, where you turn the handle, play the music, and a clown pops up out of the box? Funny, huh!

7. How about the fast food restaurant, Jack In The Box? We used to have one here, but I guess they went out of business. We ate there once and it was okay, about the same as McDonalds.

8. Did you ever dance the box step? I think I tried before, but I’m not good at dancing. I think it might be a country western type dance?

9. There’s a song by Simon & Garfunkle called The Boxer. It’s a good song.

10. I think there was a movie too, called The Boxer, but I’m not sure.

11. We have a flower shop called, Box of Rain. Weird name for flowers I think. They aren’t selling boxes of rain, or even water, just flowers.

12. Oooh I remember at the store some generic kind of bottled water, only it was in like a milk carton, plain, and it only said on it Box of water. haha

13. There are a ton of songs about rain, but not too many about boxes, but there are some.

14. I’m the Man In The Box, by a pretty good band … oh what was their name …? Alice In Chains. It’s a good song.

15. Nirvana had a song about a Heart Shaped Box, and it was a good one, too.

16. Why can’t you ever find a box the right size when you need one?

17. I always scavenged the kitchen cabinets for boxes i could use for putting gifts in. It was always funny, because the people didn’t know what they were getting for real in the box.

18. Well, of course there is the little box, if you have cats. Very handy, you don’t have to take the cat outside for a walk to do it’s business, but… you do have to scoop the litter every day, which isn’t fun.

19. Have you ever used a box for furniture? I have once in awhile, if they are the right size, and sturdy. Just drape a cloth over it and it works fine.

20. Boxes are easy to pack things in and stack them up, too.

21. We used to go around to the back of stores to grab their thrown away boxes, especially when we were needing moving boxes.

22. Some clothes can be called boxy, maybe because they are cut straight across the hemline? Or something …

23. Do you like to watch boxing, the sport? I kind of do like to. I can’t imagine why people would want to do it, but I guess they do.

24. I’ve seen there are boxes with wine in them. Doesn’t sound good to me. Wine bottles are neat looking, boxes not so much.

25. Have you tried thinking ‘outside the box’? That can be interesting what you come up with.

26. I always liked putting some money in a jukebox to listen to the music. You don’t see these around much any more.

27. Do you check your email’s In Box a lot? I do, and it’s pretty full every day.

28. Sometimes you might want to send off for something you saw on a cereal box, by sending in a certain number of their box tops. It’s always fun to receive your prize in the mail.

29. The word box has a lot of words that rhyme with it. I like going down the alphabet trying all the letters.

30. Have you enjoyed reading all my thoughts on boxes?

(and don’t read the extra last one if you are squeamish)

SOCS – Lists

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS September 23, 2023

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “Last/Lest/List/Lost.” Use them in any form you like. Use one, use two or use them all. Bonus points if you use all four. I’ll chip in extra bonus points if you use the word formed from the missing vowel in a well mannered way, but behave yourselves lest you lose all you bonus points… Enjoy!

***

Lest I forget, I’ll remind myself of my lists posts by looking back in my past posts. They’re not lost, just hanging out waiting to be seen again someday.

Today is the day. Hoo-ray, and Yippie-yay!

My post about lists is now making it’s encore 5th appearance. So far that’s all I’ve found, but there could be more, just done in a different way and using different photos.

Last we saw of this fun list post was …  2015, December 5, 2020, and a couple of other challenges where my lists made an appearance was September 9, 2019, and May 13, 2021.

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “list.” Make or talk about a list. Enjoy!

***

Today for SOCS we have the prompt word ‘list’. Thanks, Linda!

If you want to join in and also see other entries, just click the above link. It’s fun! 🙂

***

Note: This is from a post I did way back in 2015 about lists. Hardly anyone saw it, and maybe it’s cheating, but everything I wrote was stream of consciousness, as most of my writing is. Also, I’d just be repeating myself if I were to try another one about lists, because all this is still true, still the same today.

***

I like reading lists, I like making lists. Once I did post a list … I listed all the stuff that was in my purse one time…can you hear the crickets? No response whatsoever. Anyway, I make lists, but then forget to take them with me to the store. Or, I make a list, and while reading a list at the store, forget to get whatever it is anyway, even though I’m looking at the list.

I have a weird habit, too. I save lots of my lists. I don’t know why, except they are fun to look at later on…like years later…and then I can laugh at the silly things that are on there that I thought was important enough to write down. And the cryptic words that I’ve used to jog my memory are sometimes hilarious…at least to me, but make no sense to anyone else.

So…back to making a list…for this list post…yeah…so many choices…too many choices of which way to take it. I’m at a loss because faced with too many choices makes me freeze up, resulting in doing nothing. I’ve had fun writing ‘about’ lists, so better get on with actually listing something? Yep…here goes… such a silly thing to list, but hey, it’s something! 🙂

My list of favorite computer games that I play every day, because I like them.

Candy Crush … because candy is addicting.

Cradle of Rome …because it’s match 3, and you don’t have to think of anything about the game, so I think about writing things, when I’m playing it.

Enchanted Cavern …same type of match 3 game.

Scrabble … Words again…it’s always about the words.

5 Things I don’t Buy Anymore

***

Dr. Tanya, of Salted Caramel, has the prompt of listing 5 things we don’t buy anymore.

To join in and also see other entries just click the link below:

5 Things You Don’t Buy Anymore

***

1. Bananas … When I got diabetes the Dr. gave a frowny face and said bananas were very bad and to never eat them, so I don’t, but I miss them as they are my favorite fruit.

2. Popcorn & nuts … Because of diverticulitis I can’t eat any hard seeds or kernels ever again, and I crave both of these so  much, but can’t have them.

3. Cute notebooks to write in … they have such cute ones, large and small, but I have many, many of them and haven’t written in any because they are too cute to mess up. So I don’t buy any more.

4. VHS tapes … I used to tape all kinds of things off the TV, and had over 500 of them. Then it got hard to find a VHS tape player/recorder when ours went out, and finally we gave up and sold all our tapes at a garage sale. I kept a few favorite ones though.

5. Cat or dog food … sadly we don’t have any cats or dogs or any pets any more, so we don’t need to buy food.

5 Gifts You Love Receiving

***

Dr. Tanya of Salted Caramel (above link) asks us to list 5 gifts we’d like to receive. Thanks!

***

Any time of year, holiday, birthday, or whatever I like to get gifts. I also like to give gifts to others.

Most people in my family know what I like, and so they indulge me often. 🙂

1. Office supplies – any kind, the more the better. These could include pens, pencils (regular or colored), paper, stationery, stickers, coloring books, journals, diaries, pencil puzzles like crosswords and others … If it’s along any of these lines I will like it.

2. Books, and gift cards for books, either at local stores, or Amazon gift cards.

3. Soft, cuddly blankets. I never get tired of blankets, big or small.

4. Jigsaw puzzles, not too hard pictures. (no landscapes though), fun crafts to make, and painting supplies.

5. Visits, phone calls, FaceTime, and texts are especially wonderful at any time 🙂

Catitude – SOCS

Catitude – SOCS

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 23, 2022

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the first 2-5 words at the top of the closest printed matter.” Open (if necessary) the closest printed matter to you. Use the first 2-5 words at the top of the page any way you’d like in your post. Have fun!

***

Well, this is an interesting prompt! If you want to join in, and also see other entries, just click the link. Thanks, Linda!

***

The only printed item I have close by is my coloring book and pencils. This one says ‘Catitude Is Everything’. I’ve not quite finished the coloring page, but I work on coloring every evening.

What does that statement mean, I wonder. I’ve heard it a lot. Well, cats are cute, they all have individual personalities as you get to know them.

Here’ my thoughts on being like a cat with ‘catitude’.

Be cute when you want smiles and admiration from your people.

Be aloof when you want to be alone for awhile. A good hiding place is needed, like a closet or under the bed. Don’t come out when called … unless it’s feeding time.

Be a beggar. Meow a lot and twine around your people’s feet when you’re hungry. This is tricky, though. If they give you boring food, you must immediately become aloof!

Be competent in the art of staring at your people. It makes them nervous. They may try to bribe you with treats, but ignore them.

Be mysterious. We cats come from an ancient species, so keep lots of secrets.

Be able to purr convincingly and you will have charmed everyone. ❤
