Flashback Friday – Wizard

This is the Wizard.

He is wearing tall blue & brimmed hat with gold stars on it. He has a long white beard.

I got the Wizard a long time ago at the grocery store. He was full of magic and candy.

It was a fun trip to the store, and we were all acting silly, as it was late at night, and hardly anyone was in the store, besides us and the checkers.

Oh, speaking of Wizards … reminds me of a thing we used to do as kids. There was a phone number we could call to hear the Wizard. I have no idea why, but it made these mysterious sounds when you called the number. All the kids did it, and talked about it at school.

Here’s a long view of the whole wizard in his blue robes. It’s plastic, and about 6 inches tall.

Here are my painted rocks to look like candy corn.

BEFORE/AFTER

We roamed the streets,

Begging for treats…

Halloween night was fun.

A night to beware,

A costume to scare…

We knew it was all or none.

When down went the sun,

We kids would run,

From house to house far and near.

The candy they gave,

Would be gone in days,

No real danger would we fear.

But, then that time,

Crazies committed a crime..

Evil came to scare us all.

So, now in the fall,

Kids go to the mall…

And x-ray their trick or treat haul.

Random thoughts >>>

— One ring-a-dingy, two ring-a-dingy … This is how a skit on the old TV variety show, “Laugh In”, usually started. It was Lily Tomlin acting the part of a switchboard operator named Ernestine. She was so funny as she made jokes as she made calls and answered calls while on her job.

— Does anyone remember the old TV ad for using Whisk laundry soap? It was pretty funny, but annoying when they’d say in a sing song voice ‘ring around the collar, ring around the collar’.

— I have a lot of rings to wear, but these days I don’t wear any. Mostly my rings are fun and cute novelty kind of animals, like leopard faces, turtles, peace signs, skulls, butterflies and bats. I don’t have any that are expensive unless maybe my turquoise rings are.

— I had one ring with a real diamond one time. It was my engagement ring. It got lost or stolen a long time ago.

— My kids used to like those candy ‘ring pops’. They still have them at the candy counter I believe. It’s a plastic ring to wear, but the ‘jewel’ on top was a giant, diamond shaped lollipop.

— Telephone rings, bathtub rings, bells ringing …

— One time I saw a ring around the moon and it was so pretty. I didn’t get a picture of it. I did get a picture of a ring around the sun, though. A sun halo!

Bloganuary # 7 – What Makes You Laugh

What always makes me laugh is bloopers, especially printed in headlines, newsletters, signs, advertisements, etc. Also the mistakes made in movies or TV shows makes me laugh.

I’m pretty sure I make a lot myself when talking, by getting my words all mixed up. Talking to some business on the phone is one of the worst for me, and even if I try to order some fast food. It never fails that I mess it up so bad no one even knows what I’m talking about.

Then I get tickled at my own mess ups, and can’t stop laughing. Sometimes I read something wrong or the wrong way, and can’t make sense of what I’m seeing, but then figure it out and laugh about the mistake.

Oh, and those phone automatic word thing when you’re texting … with the word totally different from what you meant to type. Those are so funny most times.

Here’s an example of me seeing something wrong.

What the What? – Random Thoughts & Pics

One day I was unloading stuff from the grocery sack, and for some reason before I took this item out, I thought it was some kind of chocolate layered sponge cake dessert.

Then I looked closer and … it is a package of kitchen sponges! This got me laughing for a long time. hahaha

~

Here’s another blooper mistake I made that totally cracked me up!

We were at the store one day, waiting to check out at the counter. You know how they have all the tempting candies stacked up by the register? Well, I kept looking at one, and it spelled SpunoW. I couldn’t figure out what kind of candy it was. Then, I got a little tingle of excitement, because I was thinking, yay, a new kind to try. Maybe it is made of marshmallow fluff or something. I finally picked it up to see. To my surprise, the package was turned upside down.  When I turned it right side up, it spelled the name of a regular candy I’ve seen many times. (it was in a different, larger package though).

So, turn the word SpunoW around and you get Mounds! haha I couldn’t stop giggling. 🙂

I see a lot of times they fix up a little bouquet made up of candies! They’re not flowers, but they are pretty cute.

HALLOWEEN HAPPINESS

~

Halloween comes but once a year

It is my favorite day.

Instead of being melancholy,

Let’s chase the clouds away.

I’ll drizzle caramel on crisp, red apples,

And add rainbow sprinkles, too.

I’ll make enough for all of us,

And certainly for you.

We’ll decorate with orange and black,

And, if it rains, who cares?

We’ll grab our sack,

And not look back,

As we go on down the stairs.

You’ll paint your face,

Wear satin and lace…

A pretty princess you will be.

And I will be a cute, funny bunny…

Hopping around for all to see.

Then when we get home,

And the night is ’bout gone,

We’ll relive all the fun we had.

We’ll eat lots of candy,

And feel real dandy…

That we didn’t have time to be sad.
