New Age – A to Z – 2023 – Letter N

***
What do you know … it’s April again, and time for the A to Z Blog Challenge. We post something on our blog each day of the month (except Sundays), starting with letter A, then keep going each day with the next letter. It’s fun. I’ve done it for a lot of years. In fact …
This A to Z – 2023 will be my 10 year anniversary of participating! Yay!

Letter N is for…New Age
The term New Age stands for a whole host of beliefs held by many people worldwide. During the 60s and 70s it was embraced by the counter-culture, for it’s alternative, holistic, and spiritual leanings. People then, and now, practice many of the teachings that the New Age Movement suggest. Some of them include: consulting astrological charts, the tarot card readings, reading tea leaves, yoga, biofeedback, crystal healing, palm reading, and angel therapy. Music and books are available to study further, and there are New Age festivals and fairs, where vendors provide demonstrations, and sell their wares. Some of the New Age music consist of chants, space and trance music, Native American flutes and drums, and Australian didgeredoos.
I’ve been to one such fair here in our town, and it was fascinating. One vendor even had a special camera that photographed a person’s aura. I had mine done, and I liked how it turned out, though I didn’t really know what it meant, even with the print out. Here’s a photo of my aura on that day.
One of the more popular songs of the New Age, is the 1967 “Age of Aquarius (Let the Sunshine In), by The 5th Dimension. It was called psychedelic soul, and sunshine pop, and won Grammy Awards, It was written by James Rado, Gerome Ragni, and Galt MacDermot.
Most New Age Music is peaceful music, and is helpful in stress management.
