  1. Write a post inspired by the word forget.
  2. Write a post in exactly 9 sentences.
  3. Do you have any special plans for April?
  4. Make a list of your favorite musical artists (bands or individual). What makes them so good?
  5. Tell us a funny pet (or animal, or kid) story.
  6. Scott Adams observed “We live in a world where all data is wrong.” Discuss.

***

1. Mostly I wish we had a delete tab so we can delete bad memories we want to forget.

2.  —

3. No plans that I know of in April

4. Too many to name – look at my Song Lyric Sunday posts and you’ll see lots of favorites.

5. A funny pet story? So  many over the years with both cats and dogs. I’ve told some of them before, about my daughter’s dog Maynard (RIP). How he jumped in the lake by the house and my husband trying to catch him, and my daughter and I laughing so hard. Also when he caught a prairie dog in our back yard and carried it around in his mouth (not hurting it) as he thought it was his squeaky toy that looked a lot like a prairie dog (and it was squeaking, too!) Finally he let it go and the little critter scooted away under the fence. And then there was Rowdy’s gang of misfit neighborhood dogs. Such funny characters. 🙂

6. I have a couple of books that say just that. I can’t remember who wrote them right now, but it gave many examples, with commentary about most everything we take for granted or believe to be true, is not.

Last night I dreamed of bats circling around up in the sky. I don’t know why, but it might have been for a little conversation I had with a friend blogger about seeing buzzards at her place (thanks Vero!). Anyway, I did see buzzards one time here, lazily making circles in the sky. There must have been 20 or 30 of them. I tried taking a photo (see below) but they were far away and kind of blurry. So … Blurry Buzzards

Buzzards flying in circles.

Then still thinking of Bats, I don’t usually see them, but a couple of times I have. We lived in a place where every evening about sunset, I’d be looking out the back door to the place across the way, and out of their roof vents (?) would come a bunch of bats flying out.

Another time at another place we had a shared laundry room in a separate area. One neighbor came to alert all the residents that there was something making a racket in one of the washing machines. So we all went over to see. One lady was brave enough to put on gloves and look inside. There was a bat in there and couldn’t get out. (the washer was empty and not running). So she reached in and got him and let him fly free.

Linda had pulled the van into the parking lot of the small police station. She and Melody sat there a few minutes, trying to compose themselves, before going inside. It was a tidy, brick building, with a glass door in front. They didn’t see the squad car anywhere.

“I don’t see it; there must be a parking lot back behind the building,” Linda said.

“What do you think they’ll do to Steve and Ghost?” Melody asked.

Linda shrugged. “I don’t know, but I hope they don’t actually put them in jail. Maybe they’ll just get fined or something. I suppose we better go in.” She and Melody got out of the van, and helped Stevie and Mandy out of the back seat.

“Now, kids, I need y’all to mind your manners in here,” Linda said.

Melody pushed open the door to the police station. Linda breathed deep. This could go either way. Small towns did things different than L. A. she knew. In front of them was the sergeant’s desk. She went up to ask what they should do next. He didn’t look too happy to have his evening interrupted, though.

Clearing her throat, she said, “They brought my brother and his friend in from up at the visitor center. Where are they? What do I need to do?”

The officer narrowed his eyes, as he stubbed out his cigarette. “Yeah, they radioed it in. They’re in back being questioned and processed. It will be awhile,” he said. His tone changed then, as he looked over at the kids, and smiled. “Got three of the young’uns, myself. Here, that is if it’s ok.” He pulled out a couple of lollipops from a drawer.

Linda smiled, relieved that he wasn’t as mean as he looked. “Thank you,” she said, and gave one each to Stevie and Mandy. “Y’all sit quite, now…we have grown-up business to do.”

Looking back to the officer, she asked, “Can you tell me what will happen, now?”

“Well, let’s see,” he said, rubbing his chin. “It’s been awhile since we arrested anyone.” He chuckled. “Sorry, well…after questioning, they’ll determine the outcome. Probably just pay a hefty fine, and of course the gun will be confiscated. Then, they can leave, after bail is posted. If there are no outstanding warrants, that’ll be about it. Gotta run ’em through the wanted list, of course. Any marks on their record, might land ’em in jail for awhile, until all that is settled. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

“Okay, how much will the bail be? I’ll pay it right now,” Linda said, pulling out her wallet.

“We’ll have to wait for the bondsman. He’s been notified. Should be here soon.”

Linda nodded, then went to sit down with Melody and the kids. She leaned back on the wall, with her eyes closed. Melody squeezed her hand.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” she asked.

“No, we just have to wait.”

An hour passed, and still no word. The sergeant had gone back to watching a small tv, and monitoring the radio. Melody took the kids to the restroom, to wash the stickiness from their hands and faces. Just as she returned to the main room, the holding room door opened. Another officer came out, giving papers to the desk sergeant, who then nodded.

Looking over at Linda, he motioned her over to the desk. “Ok, ma’am, the bail is set at $500.00 each. Pay that, and they’re free to go. There will be a hearing with the judge in six weeks. Basically, just a formality to close the case. But, make sure they both show up. No skipping out on it, or it’ll be a definite jail sentence. Do you understand?”

“Yes, sir,” Linda said. She handed him her credit card, and signed the ticket. Steve and Ghost were led out of the back room, then.

“Oh my God, Steve,” Linda said.

“Hold on, Miss,” the sergeant said. Turning to Steve and Ghost, he asked had they been appraised of what needed to happen.

“Yes, sir, we understand,” Steve said.

“Y’all are free to go. Good luck.”

They all walked back outside into the cool mountain air. The sun was just coming up. Linda hugged both Steve and Ghost. She could tell Steve was tensed up, and barely holding back his temper.

“Not now, Steve…please calm down,” Linda said.

Ghost was just quiet, all the energy drained out of him. Linda hugged him especially gently, trying not to bump his swollen face. “Get in the car, hon,” she said, guiding him to the door.

I have this thing I do every night while I’m trying to fall asleep. I get all settled, then pick a topic and go down the alphabet, A to Z listing everything I can think of for that subject.

Sometimes it will be flowers, like this  one above.

Sometimes it will be car (automobile) names

or candy, or song titles, or band names, or book titles, or animals.

I sometimes don’t get very far down the alphabet before I’m already asleep.

Does anyone else do this?

A 2 Z – 2026

A 2 Z – 2026

I told myself I wasn’t going to do the A 2 Z challenge in April this time. But I’ve done it every year since I started  blogging, so guess I’ll do something for it this time, too.

No theme, and  not official, but just random things for the letters. Whatever I think of on that day.

***

It is almost April, and what does that mean? It means it is time for the annual A to Z Blog Challenge! This challenge is to post something every day, except Sundays, in the month of April, that follows along to the alphabet. Each day will be about something to do with the letter of the day.

***

I don’t usually have a strong theme to my posts, just thinking of something on the fly, as it comes to me. I have a general idea, and do a tiny bit of planning beforehand, but most is just done stream of consciousness style. I sometimes have the ‘Mystery Box Chickens’ helping out.  I think they are ready for another A to Z Challenge. They think they are the stars of the show. What do you think? hahaha

Here they are now saying Welcome and happy A to Z!

Now for my idea for a theme. I don’t have one. It will be random things, and maybe a song/video.  Yeah, I’m going the easy route this time. And,  the ‘chickens’ might have a word or two to say. 🙂

Hope to see you here soon! Happy reading, and happy A to Z blogging!
