Washed Alfie again this morning. Was a bit braver this time, and gave him a right good handwashing! The filth that came out of the wee beastie was almost unbelievable!
He's now stuck on the towel rail staring at me like he hates me. And at the same time looking quite folorn.
I'm far too soft.
Have to post something here though to keep a record of his bathtimes!
I haven't done piccy a day for a bit, cos we're just doing same-old same-old in the workshop. Come Monday I think we're laying out the tree, so I'll take pics then.
Do London Bus drivers have very very special training, when learning to drive, so they ALWAYS park their doors by some street-scrap? At my bus stop there's the bus-stop sign, the ticket machine and a bin. The bin is a little way off the other two. And buses, without fail, park with their doors by one or the other, rendering it almost impossible to get on their bus. Actually impossible if you have a pram or anything.
And the bendy buses, with their three doors? They manage to get front doors by the bin, middle doors by the ticket machine. LAME!!!
And it's not like they just manage it at my stop, it's all of them, they always manage to find something to park by.
THERE'S NO PICTURES LIKE SNOW PICTURES LIKE NO PICTURES I KNOOOOOOOOW ( ice ice babyCollapse ) I desperately want there to be more snow overnight so I can have a proper snowball fight tomorrow on the prom. I dunno, I don't quite feel I've taken full advantage of the snow today, despite being out in it twice, having two snowball fights etc. I want MORE FUN. wanna be out with my schoolfriends making snowmen with improbably large cocks...
I washed Alfie this morning. He hates me now, but the sink was kinda full of grime afterward. I used a j cloth, a toothbrush and some gentle handwash stuff. I've hair dried him gently, squeezed him up in towels and now he's on a towel on the radiator, being slowly rotated! He was very very unhappy when he was wet, looking at me with proper mournful eyes! But he is a good bit less grimy, although obviously not as clean as if he'd been in the washer - but I was worried about getting his stuffing too wet.
My train, it seems, is always either late, or has drama. Or both.
Thursday, as we're between East Croydon (1st stop) and Three Bridges (2nd stop) the tannoy goes:
"Conductor, contact the driver please."
Minute passes.
"Conductor, contact the driver please, passenger alarm has been pulled."
More silence...
"Can the CONDUCTOR please contact the DRIVER."
Another Minute.
"Could. The. Conductor. Contact. The. Driver."
pause...
"If there is ANYONE on this train who has a carriage key could they go to the toilet in the middle four coaches and reset the alarm?"
So, basically, as there is always a conductor, and we later saw him, I am assuming the conductor got himself locked in the toilet.
Then last night, same stretch of track... "This is the conductor speaking, if there are any members of the police force on the train could they please make their way to carriage 12"
Which caused us to be about 11 mins late...Oh, the joys.
Anyway, thing is, they need a wash. Well, Alfie defo does. Lil is a bit better and the kids aren't too bad, but if I'm doing two of them I may as well do four. Now, I assume they're stuffed with man-made fibres, and in their bellies are plastic beads. So...I figure I should wash them by hand, because I'm just too scared to put them in the washing machine. Any tips? As you can see their fur has that 'old furry toy' look going on. I mean, we've had Alf for over 8 years, almost, Lil for 7 ish and the kids for 2. So I want to make sure they're safe - I will not be responsible for killing more than half me family! (Yes, I'm soft as shit) but I also want them to be clean, cos they're manky. Advice on brushing? And drying! Don't want them smelling like the swamps they came from!
So yes, a lazy easter, spent doing a lot of computer-related stuff. And tomorrow's back to work already...and even thought this SHOULD be a four day week, work have asked me to do a Saturday - and I said yes because of the MONEY.
Lovely.
And then hopefully I'll go up to Fran's on Sunday and get some more computeriness. Fun. No, really, I love the computers.
I fear I may have scared the squeeing Gene/Alex shippers though, with my hawt man-luvvin' Gene/Ray pwp XD
In other news, jonboy1 fails as a chief carer for the new adoptees. He can't remember their names all the time, and he can't tell Mika apart from Yas. Hes been bitten a good few times and tickled once or twice, but his memory doesn't seem to be improving yet...I hope we never have twins...
In other news...I did something really stupid on Friday which I feel incredibly bad about and is rather preying on my mind. I'm sure I'll get over it though.
Baby gators have arrived and are very very wee and cute.
Work is still v. busy, both at work and private work. I don't have enough time in the day.
There was a little fox on site today, living in one of the flats - the site managers decided to try and get rid of it, so we all got into position, blocking doorways and stairs so it could be shooed away in the direction we wanted it to go.
One of the labourers, Junior, said he'd catch it with his bare hands, but everyone said that was a bad idea. He was really keen, but no one quite knew how to explain 'bitten by a fox' in the accident book...anyway, turns out it was lucky we didn't let Junior have a go, cos when the fox was shooed down the stairs Junior saw it, screamed, and jumped over a wall. Turns out he thought a fox was about the size of a pet rabbit...he's not from round these parts. And he won't forget that in a hurry.
Poor fox though, I don't see why it couldn't have been left alone. I don't think it enjoyed being pushed about by loads of people in hiViz etc.
Had the health and safety folk around today, because there was an accident yesterday - stair collapsed with a labourer on it. Meant we all had to mind ourselves and be good. Apparently the site has a 'safe site' award - and yesterday was the seventh medium-major accident they've had. Wouldn't like to be on one of their unsafe sites.
Went and saw a friend's new studio space today. It's lovely, and I would be jealous if I didn't have my workshop. It'll be a great bunch of people by the sound of it though.
