What do I even pack? It needs to be everything I'll need, nothing I won't need, enough stuff to stop me being bored, but also nothing just in case we go out every night and blow our £30 daily expenses (except we don't have £30 daily expenses, because the boss didn't give us enough money for that.)

If you've friended me, and I've never friended you and you think I jolly well should friend you (or, indeed, if you've never friended me, but would like to for some reason) or just...well, anything, then leave a comment telling me I should get on and reciprocate! I don't have email notifications set, so I don't ever know when people friend/defriend me. And I don't have any particular criteria for friending back (although clearly it's a plus if you write hot fic.) so yes. I can't organise myself. You organise me!

That being said, I shal barely check anything for the next week or so, because I'll be away.

If you haven't read emungere 's 'Aint Seen The Sunshine' then you should. (That goes to the final part but has links to all previous parts, just to warn you). Then you should read 'Snowflakes (Like Dust In The Sun)', the sequel. They are both fab fics, written in an AU where John Watson and Lestrade are sorta the same...and Sherlock and Mycroft are 5yrs old and 12 yrs old respectively - and John somehow ends up as their nanny. Anyway, just go and read, they're really good.

THEN, you should go and read John's Blog and Lestrade's Blog, and you should get involved, comment, chat, y'know, blog it up with them!! It's like...interactive fanfic!

Just had an icon clear-out. If I don't remember using it, it's GONE. Which means I now have 13 12 spaces for new icons (one already taken by RG and his wee camp face there)

Soooo....will have to make some more. I'm all for the simple icons nowadays. Almost all the ones I've got rid of are GIFs, with moving text/fades etc. I'm bored of all that now. Now I just like the plain n simples.

Well, I've started updating my new AO3 account. Whoooo!

At the moment it's mainly de-anoning on fills for the kinkmeme, and posting the most recent things.

Still got to tackle the monsters - the ones I'll have to put up in chapters etc. It's quite a nice system though - although it takes bloody ages to churn out the autosuggest list when you start filling in chars.

And does anyone know if there's a 'challenge' tag for the kinkmeme or anything? I've left it blank...


Also, do people tend to comment over there much? Or is it less prevelant than commenting here on LJ?

It's taken me a while, and then some more time...and then dipping my toe in the water...and then reading but not joining...but now I've joined both holmeswatson09 and kirk_mccoy . And lots of the fic there is good and interesting and lovely. But NO-ONE (well, very few) seem to link back to past chapters of their fics. Whyyyyyyyy? So there are fics which are up to chapter 9ish and for the life of me I can't find half the earlier chapters. I've clicked through to the journals of the authors, I've clicked tags, I've scrolled back...I mean, I'm certain I could find them if I kept looking, but it just makes me give up, given that I don't want to read a later chapter just to find out if it's really worth the effort of finding the earlier ones, and because I don't know if it's worth the effort I just don't bother after a short search. Why don't people link?? It's so easy, you just save all your links into the header you post with each part (I make the assumption that people keep that, rather than write it out in full every time? I know I do.) Anyway, small rant, but makes me even more determined that I shall always keep a nice track of my past chapters, for the noobs who turn up halfway through a fic.

graaar. I may just have to message the authors concerned and ask for links. (Which surely is more bother to them...) And these comms don't seem to keep memories for authors or anything either. Maybe there's a website...a secret one, not linked to anywhere...

Oooh, it's been so long since I updated! Apologies - not that anyone will have missed me, I'm sure!

Work is manic (did you expect anything else?) We've FINALLY finished Shanghai. WOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (Photos of many pavilions, including the UK, here).

But have run headlong into Chelsea Flower Show. Where are Pavilion which was scheduled to take 12 weeks to build and was made with copper, now has 5 weeks to be built and is made of brass. Oh, don't you LOVE working for organised clients? And last week we were told it isn't just a pavilion...it's Chelsea's FEATURE PAVILION this year. The joy, let it be unconfined.

Anyone watching Ashes to Ashes? (I mean, apart from the obvious ones amongst you.) I'm loving it. I have a new theory to replace my old theory. I'll past it up sometime. Although currently it's written very incoherently.

It's the first Brighton Marathon today - which is great, I went and watched from the Elite runners up until the 4hr pacer went past.

And what post would be complete without the Election being mentioned?

I'm a floating voter right now, although I'm leaning LibDem. My const. is currently Labour, but with a tiny majority over the Tories. Really tiny. And I imagine the Tories will get in here. I dislike the Tories intensely, and David Cameron really isn't helping that. And George Osborne is just...well, I don't even have words. So I would naturally vote Labour to attempt to keep the Tories out, but my MP is SO USELESS that I can't bring myself to vote for her, even if that means the Tories are more likely to get in. So I might vote LibDem. The support for them has been steadily growing in this area, so it'll give them a wee boost. I actually hope we have a hung parliament, tbh. I like to think the Libs can temper whichever party gets the majority and everyone can calm down some before we go to election again - which would almost certainly happen within the next year.

I am quite fascinated with who thinks they might vote what. I know quite a lot of 'young people' ha, I'm not one anymore! 18/19yr olds, some older. People who don't remember the Thatcher/Major years. It shocks me how many of them might go blue, and their reasons for it.

I know it's a massive, complex issue, but on their stance on Gay Rights alone, I could never vote Tory. They have the most terrible record, even now, no matter how much they say they've changed. So bad that the founder of the Tory LGBT rights group is going to vote Labour! Here is an informative website on the issue, comparing the three big parties.

Sooo...spent today on the set of Ashes to Ashes. It was great, walking around the set, watching all the guys at work etc. I do now know some massive spoilers (We spent half an hour in a room full of every script for the entire series...and they weren't even closed/hidden XD) And all I can say is that I'm looking forward to S3 more than ever :D
