Went Sales shopping. Okay, not really sales shopping, we went shopping and the sales are on...but we would have gone shopping anyways, got it? It wasn't very busy, actually. No worse than an average Saturday. We thought it would be mash up.

Tried to get my old man a Christmas prezzie....failed. Waterstone's Astronomy section is LAME. There's just books for beginners - don't think the old man would be amused if I gave him one of them!! Might try Borders tomorrow if we can be arsed.

But I did get myself a phone case, and a new laptop case...except it didn't have a size on it in the shop...and it's 17". Me lappy's only 15.4". Not sure whether to keep it or not. It was only £6.99, hence the buying of it. Will think about it.

Now I need a lanyard for my new phone case, cos i wish to wear it around my neck. Under my clothes though, not in a kiddy-fashion way that says "Please, mug me now and steal my phone". Although I did wear a hoody and a cap in Bluewater (where both those items are banned) and didn't get stopped...either I looked too badass....or I didn't look badass enough. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not. I think perhaps I'm getting old XD

I just found a much more recent update of my old files...I thought I'd been a complete wanker and had gone almost a year without backing up...but NO!! It seems I've only gone 4 or 5 months, and, given how totally unproductive I've been recently, that really isn't very much at all. And I've done a photo update even more recently than that, so, all is not lost at all!

What I couldn't find was my old brush sets for photoshop, which I know I have backed up someplace, but I'm buggered if I can find them. I have all my font sets, so that's ok. I'll just have to download a bunch more brushes - I already have got a tonne, which is kind of cool, cos my style's changin etc, so it's more like a spring clean than a loss...yup. The world is looking pretty bright and shiny from here today.

Anyone else out there use Office 2004? And if so, how can I stop it turning every file I open into 'notebook' layout? It's driving me NUTS.

When I open Word I want to have a normal blank page, and when I open a file in word I want it to look like it did when I saved it. Help?

I hate microsoft.

Baby gators have arrived and are very very wee and cute.

Work is still v. busy, both at work and private work. I don't have enough time in the day.

There was a little fox on site today, living in one of the flats - the site managers decided to try and get rid of it, so we all got into position, blocking doorways and stairs so it could be shooed away in the direction we wanted it to go.

One of the labourers, Junior, said he'd catch it with his bare hands, but everyone said that was a bad idea. He was really keen, but no one quite knew how to explain 'bitten by a fox' in the accident book...anyway, turns out it was lucky we didn't let Junior have a go, cos when the fox was shooed down the stairs Junior saw it, screamed, and jumped over a wall. Turns out he thought a fox was about the size of a pet rabbit...he's not from round these parts. And he won't forget that in a hurry.

Poor fox though, I don't see why it couldn't have been left alone. I don't think it enjoyed being pushed about by loads of people in hiViz etc.

Had the health and safety folk around today, because there was an accident yesterday - stair collapsed with a labourer on it. Meant we all had to mind ourselves and be good. Apparently the site has a 'safe site' award - and yesterday was the seventh medium-major accident they've had. Wouldn't like to be on one of their unsafe sites.

Went and saw a friend's new studio space today. It's lovely, and I would be jealous if I didn't have my workshop. It'll be a great bunch of people by the sound of it though.

no where has the lappy yet. Tried to get one yesterday, tried to get one today...

Am going to get my mother to buy it for me over the phone, I think. She can get me a dealio on stuff, as she's doing her doctorate in education or something right now. I just have to send her the moolah, or she can use my bank details.

I'm just getting impatient now...I really need a machine for a. Nanowrimo and b. Sal's place next weekend. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

In other news, I'm going to remove the hdd from my old machine and try to put it in an external enclosure, then hook it up to the new machine and see if I can pull the data off it. Should be a big money-saving escapade if I can do it and the data is all sound. And if it isn't...well, shit.

In other news...am back in touch with an old friend, which is fab, if a little weird. Have mentioned it before..yaddayadda.

Anyone want a silver 4gb Ipod Mini? I want to sell it to get an 8gb Nano. I love my mini dearly, but it's just not big enough for me to have everything I want to listen to on it at work (because I want to put on all my language learning tapes as wel as all my music) Naturally, it's still massive and holds many many songs - 1000, they claim.


In a slightly related note...my iTunes has decided I don't have any music. Not a thing. If I open my iTunes music folder on my hard drive, however, I plainly do own many many songs. So, anyone got advice? I shall go and troubleshoot...

And just before I posted that bit, my computer shut down and now won't restart. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFCUKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK.

I think I need to reinstall my OS. And I don't have the disks with me.

I don't think I can cope with a weekend here with this dad and no laptop.

Stuff happened yesterday, but I cna't remember it.

Anyways, today.

Went shopping. Succesful Bluewaterage. Had brekky (yummy 'Bucks brekky...marmite and cheese panini) then hit the shops. First stop the Apple Store, who didn't have what I wanted, but did have a helpful sales guy. He told me to go to an Apple reseller, so I went to BW's only one - John Lewis. There I found a Mac OS X 10.4* compatible USB WiFi dongle for only £24. So I bought that and some headphones for the Urchin so he can listen to his SGA episodes on his computer :)

Also bought some cheap work jeans, so that was all good.

Got home to get 'Wireless internet in seconds'...and three hours later I had finally got the stupid thing to be wireless, but sadly iChat and Firefox won't recognise that I'm connected to the Internet at all, and every time I do anything the connection switches off. And this all stems from the Stupid D-Link box lying. It is not in any way compatible with OS X 10.4.anything. I had to download Ralink drivers just to get it that far.

Reckon I'm going to get a fake Airport card instead, as I can't afford an Airport Card. This USB thing doesn't work and isn't as neat as a little card anyways.

So tomorrow I'll take it back, and prolly end up getting something off eBayski.

Doesn't help that BT only give the most passing of comments that yeah, Macs exist, and may possibly work with BT maybe, they don't really care.

Anyways, then I slept some, worked for Jojo for a bit and now he's cooking something that's yummy.

So some stupid web page forced my web window to become massive. So massive that I can't reach anything to drag it smaller.

I. CANNOT. MAKE. MY. WINDOW. SMALLER.

Help.
