Here are three prompts in one post for Just Jot It January. They are Whatever, and Why, and Antipodean.

They are good words, and usually go along with Who, When, Where, and How.  All good starting words for sentences to jump into the subject, whatever topic you choose.

Whatever made you choose to write about this or that or who or when and why? Who knows where the thoughts come from

Some say there is no bad or wrong question, so why not ask why at every opportunity. Maybe you learn something.

That’s why we go chasing rainbows, or rabbits down the rabbit hole, trying to find out what and why something is how it is. I’m always researching and looking for explanations and meanings and the whys and whatevers of things. I’ll bet you are, too. 🙂

And as I added the last word prompt – antipodean – it makes me wonder why anyone would ever use this odd word to mean someone or something on a far away land as this one word does. Makes no sense to me. Sounds like a weird sentence when you separate the syllables = anti po dean = you are anti (against) po (poor) Dean (a person). 🙂

Anyway, here’s a song/video of my favorite Australian singer songwriter, Kasey Chambers. We have enjoyed her music for quite a few years.

Five Reasons Why Your Restaurant is Dead to Me Now

***

This is a large paper I stuck up on one of our kitchen doors. It has listed all the restaurants I could think of at the time that we go to occasionally. For awhile I was making a mark by them, so we could see how many times we visited that particular place. I haven’t updated the list in a long time, and some of these are not in business any more. Others, I forgot to put on the list at all.  You can click the photo to see it better.

Some of the restaurants have been exed XX out, and here’s why…

You know, we go out to eat quite a lot around here, and most always enjoy it. Sometimes it’s just fast food, sometimes a more fancy place. We get take-out a lot of times, but mostly we’ll go inside a restaurant to sit down and eat. We’re pretty regular customers at several places here in town, but sometimes something happens that makes us cross them off our list. We won’t ever go back to these.

They are pronounced dead.

Here’s a few things I’ve noticed about eating establishments that turn me off of them:

  • Cockroaches = If when using the restaurant’s bathroom, you shouldn’t have to lift your legs to prevent a whole army of cockroaches from crawling up while you’re sitting there. If the restroom is this bad, heaven only knows what’s going on in the kitchen area where the food is prepared.

  • Illness = If one of your employees is sick with something, and they are coughing, sneezing, and wiping their noses while taking your order, or serving your food, you should send them home until they are well. To have them continue to work, all the while complaining of how bad they feel, and how sick they are out loud to everyone, should be an indication you will lose customers. Besides, they will infect other employees and customers, too.

  • Lax cleaning = When the tables and condiment bottles on the table (salt, pepper, hot sauce, etc) are sticky from being used so often, you should clean them off with a sanitary wipe after each customer leaves the table. This goes for wiping down the tables, too. Don’t use a filthy rag, get a fresh one each time. Your dirty wash water and rag only spreads germs around. We see you do this … ugh!

  • Check the salad bar often = When there are flies in the restaurant, you can be sure they will land on the salad fixings. I saw one stuck in the pudding one time!

  • Check the register tape for accurate addition of charges of a meal. Don’t charge us $315.00 for a ham sandwich, and we have to point it out to you.

I’m sure there are more reasons that I can’t remember now, but hope this hasn’t grossed you out too much!

tongue twister of why

Herman’s hermits song

Well, that’s my first thoughts to do for today’s prompt word, ‘why’. And I forgot to start with the word as instructed. Oh well, can’t go back now because that’s another little rule of this challenge. Sometimes we (or I) pay no attention to the rules, and sometimes I do.

So, let me think a minute or two … make up a tongue twister? Yeah, I could do that. I like trying to say them.

How’s this …

Why whirling whales whistle whisper whoppers? Whimsy!

This is another of my odd-ball photos from a long time ago.

They are mannequin legs that are sitting up on top of a shelf.

I saw these at a museum, or rather the Science Spectrum children’s museum.

I have no idea why they were perched up top like that, or what the meaning of it was.

Why?

??????????????????????????????????????????

Why?

***

***

Why? Because I thought it would be funny to do that.

Actually, I’m asking myself why? am I stuck on this find a three letter word prompt today?

There are tons of 3 letter words in the world, and I think that’s my problem…too many. I can’t settle, or I couldn’t settle on any one of them. It’s typical of me to come to a standstill at anything where there are too many choices.

Why are there so many choices of the same things in the grocery store?

Why do I have so many things I should be doing, that I don’t want to do. Well, I want to do them, but there’s too many to make a decision about which one to do ‘first’. I just don’t like making decisions about things…what’s for supper…I don’t know or care…food? Some kind of food would be great…just don’t ask me what food.

Hobbies, crafts, scrap books, reading, cleaning, choosing…choosing…choosing! Which one, when, how? Now? I just can’t get started. So, I just do a little of this, a little of that, and nothing ever gets completely done. Too many distractions from all the choices.

So, I’m asking…why?

Lizards – NanoPoblano – Day 21

NanoPoblano – Day 21

https://cheerpeppers.wordpress.com/2016/09/07/why-blog-everyday-in-november/

***

Today we were at the Dairy Queen restaurant at lunch time. I noticed the sign out front, and from where I was sitting I could only see part of it. It was advertising the Blizzard, which is a very thick ice cream treat.

Well, the part I could see only said ‘Lizzard’, as the ‘B’ was blocked from my view. It struck me funny, saying to get an original ‘lizzard’ meal.

So, I got to thinking…how do you spell ‘lizard’? Is it with one letter z or two? It turns out it is with only one letter z. Why? It seems as though they short-changed the little lizards of the world, by only granting them one letter z. Lots of other words have two, such as the Blizzard treat, a real weather blizzard, and even a chicken has two in their gizzards.

I say we should give the lizards another letter z.

And, as Little Orphan Annie said, “Leapin’ Lizards!”
