Dan is now hosting Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge! Find information at the below link. Thanks so much for continuing this fun challenge each week, Dan.

For this week’s prompt we are to find photos of winter or summer or both.

CFFC — A Look Back One Year

***

Today, for CFFC challenge, we were asked to find photos of winter. Here are a couple of B & W ones from our front and back yard, when I was a kid. That tree is still standing, and has seen many winters. Icicles from off the back of the house roof…always cool to see, and a snowman my kids and I made one year in the same front yard I grew up playing in. 🙂

It will be 362 degrees on Thursday … and sometimes it sure feels like it’s that hot in the summertime here.

***

So, I was watching the TV weather forecast one day, and the chart showing temperatures for that week was very surprising! It showed Thursday’s as being 362 degrees! The weather person came back on to say it was a mistake. hahaha

This was an early morning sunrise which is turning the sky yellow with the sun a big white  ball of heat. That’s what we get in the summer around here, and it starts early in the mornings and is still hot sometime way into the evening.

I took this photo of the bright sunrise one morning at 8:00 a.m. It shows how bright fiery orange and white it was shining over the lake. That day was forecast to be about 100 degrees F.

Here we are usually hot, dry, and dusty, so when it rains it is like a refreshing, renewal for everyone and everything. I know we love when it rains after a long dry spell, so we marvel and feel uplifted. I’m sure these trees are enjoying it, too.

These photos show the rain coming down in parallel lines! The two trees are in two different neighbor’s yards across from us.

Just a common disposable lighter flame.

Another common item is a space heater.

A hot air balloon that was flying over our back yard one time.

I was lucky to have taken this photo just as the lightning struck at twilight.

The Hot Kind!

I took this photo of the bright sunrise last Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. It shows how bright fiery orange and white it was shining over the lake.

It may be fall, but here it is still hot weather. In fact tomorrow (Wednesday) we are supposed to set a record breaking high of about 100 degrees!

… Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Hot/Cold

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 23/17

Today, Linda has asked us to consider the words hot and cold. To join in the challenge, just click the above link.

Hot and Cold are pretty much opposite of each other, wouldn’t you agree?

Some things are really hot, others are really cold.

Do we always have to choose one or the other?

What if it is neither hot or cold, and instead is just lukewarm?

That got me thinking of why it is called ‘luke’ warm. I know it means tepid, or the in between temperature, maybe room temperature, but why ‘luke’. I mean, I think of luke as a name, probably a boy’s name…Luke. What if they called it some other name, say like Tom, or Billy, or even Janie? That would sound silly, saying something is Tomwarm, Billywarm, or Janiewarm. It could have happened, though, and we’d be used to it that way, instead of lukewarm.

Moving on…

I like my coffee and my food really hot. Most times it cools off too quickly, so I have to keep warming it up in the microwave. I should say I keep ‘hotting’ it up.

When I turn on the faucet, I can never get the water to be just right. It is usually too hot or too cold, so I have to keep adjusting the temperature. I spend half of my time doing the adjusting.

One more thing…I like hot weather, and I can’t stand cold weather. Being lukewarm weather is okay, but boring. I like the change of seasons, but they run too long, and the one you like best seems to be over before you’ve enjoyed it enough. Like fall weather, it never lasts long here, as we go from scorching hot, to too cold sometimes within a few days. At least the cold part doesn’t last long here.

There you have it.

May you enjoy your weekend, be it either lukewarm, hot or cold.
