Today for Song Lyric Sunday, the prompt is to find a song about fashion accessories. This is a fun one, I think about a girl who wears all kinds of things, and the guy just thinks she’s in disguise with it all. It’s pretty funny, but the lyrics are hard to understand, both hearing them and then reading them … to me they don’t make much sense, but it does turn into a really catchy song. I remember hearing it on the radio all the time back then.
This song, both versions, just makes me laugh. 🙂
Some said it was a take-off on the Beatles song, “Lucy In thre Sky, With Dimonds”, and it kind of seems so, though they deny it. It was said that this song of theirs came out before the Beatles released their song.
From a Wiki article:
In January 1968, the song reached #1 in the US and became a gold record. It also hit #1 in Germany, Switzerland, and Australia, and #3 in both Canada and the United Kingdom.

“Judy In Disguise” (with glasses), by John Fred & His Playboy Band. It was on their album, “Agnes English”, and was released in 1967, on the Paula Records label. It was written by John Fred Gourrier and Andrew Bernard.

And then there is this updated one from the “SiliconTeens”. It’s a synth/pop kind of song, done in I think 1979. I like it a lot, too.
