With 30 years’ mining experience in site and corporate operational management, technical, business planning, risk, and strategy functions, Rae is a respected mining industry leader with extensive experience. Her career has been focused on holistic management, understanding and integrating disparate functions within an operation or company, addressing key operational and technical risks, understanding key value drivers for business decisions, as well as organisational culture. Rae’s academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Mining Engineering, and various accreditations from the NSW Coal Qualifications Board. Beginning a professional journey, whether in a general role or a specialised field like the mining industry, requires more than technical know-how. It’s about developing the interpersonal and confidence skills that help you communicate effectively, work well with others, and handle the demands of a dynamic work environment. In industries like mining, where teamwork, safety, and adaptability are critical, these human-centered skills can be just as important as your hands-on training. Whether you end up working in operations, engineering, administration, or on-site support, these essential skills will help you succeed and grow in your role.
Gain a practical understanding of the mining industry, including everyday realities, common misconceptions, and how to prepare for and handle the challenges that come with a career in mining.
