Three impactful programs

Connecting Industry and the Future Workforce

At Beacon Events, we are dedicated to fostering the connection between industry and the future workforce

We recognise the significance of encouraging the next generation to actively engage with the mining and resources sector throughout their educational and skills training journey. Our NextGen Program is designed to inspire our future workforce, facilitate career pathways, and promote talent retention within the mining and resources sector.

IMARC's NextGen Program actively engages students of all educational levels, young leaders, universities, and organisations at Australia's largest mining event. The Program is in partnership with industry organisations’ AREEA, CoRE Learning Foundation, Australian Earth Science Education and the NSW Minerals Council.

If you're a full-time undergraduate, graduate, apprentice, trainee, or new professional (with less than five years in a mining-related role), you can apply for a complimentary NextGen Leaders Pass. Companies with students or graduates in their teams are also encouraged to get involved.

*PhD students and university employees can register for a Delegate Pass or Expo Pass

This year, Parramatta West Public School proudly participated for the first time in the Bright Future STEM Program. Our students met inspiring STEM role models who shared real-world insights into engineering, including its applications in mining and mine rehabilitation.

Students also took part in exciting hands-on activities such as Snap Circuits, Dr Eureka, Turning Tumble, Gravitrax, and a popular VR experience, which encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

A major highlight was visiting the Mining Expo during the International Mining Conference, where students explored cutting-edge technology and even sat inside an impressively large mining truck prototype.

The experience greatly boosted students’ confidence and enthusiasm for future STEM careers. It was an unforgettable opportunity to connect directly with industry professionals and learn about exciting, real-world STEM careers.

Thank you for taking us on this incredibly inspiring STEM journey!

NextGen Leaders

The NextGen Leaders Program is a dynamic three-day experience for over 200 undergraduate students, graduates, trainees, and apprentices in mining and resources-related fields. Participants receive an all-access pass to IMARC's full conference, exhibition, and networking events - plus an exclusive NextGen Program. This includes tailored conference sessions, speed networking with Austmine, daily check-ins at the AusIMM booth, and guided exhibition floor walks designed to help emerging professionals get the most out of IMARC.

NextGen Senior

NextGen Senior

In 2025 on Wednesday, October 22, the NextGen Senior Program featured two groups: Resources Engagement Day: 100 Year 9 NSW students, with support from CoRE Learning Foundation and NSW Minerals Council and Earth and Environmental Science @ IMARC: 60 Year 11/12 students in partnership with Australian Earth Science Education.

Both groups heard from industry leaders, explored the exhibition floor, and visited the CoRE Gamification Zone - sponsored by Newmont and featuring Minecraft-based Earth science learning.

NextGen Junior

NextGen Junior

In 2025 on Thursday, October 23, over 200 Year 4 and 5 students from Sydney schools attended the NextGen Junior Program with AREEA Bright Future STEM. Activities included hands-on STEM stations, Role Model Talks from graduates, and guided walks of the IMARC exhibition.

Students received a tote bag of exhibitor goodies and gained early exposure to the mining industry at Australia’s largest resources event.
