This PR makes a small performance-focused tweak to Arena’s slow allocation path by avoiding an unnecessary max computation when the arena has no existing chunks.
Changes:
- Refactors new-chunk sizing logic to compute the “double previous chunk size” path only when a previous chunk exists.
- Keeps the existing minimum new-chunk size floor (
max(requested_size, DEFAULT_CHUNK_SIZE_WITHOUT_FOOTER)), while simplifying the empty-arena path.
