The Tenth Annual Contest Of Whatever!

Every year Evil Squirrel, at Evil Squirrel’s Nest holds a fun contest. It’s called the Contest of Whatever CoW!

The topic which is supposed to be included this year is November 31.

We can post anything we want just as long as this date is included somehow.

Otherwise … whatever~ YAY!!

An actual cow – ha ha

I’ve participated several times, but sadly have never won a prize. Yes, prizes are given out … one for the winner of the contest and one for the random draw.

Anyway it’s lots of fun.

Here’s my entry, such as it is.

Introductory song: The Shirelles singing “31 Flavors”

Neat song, huh! What if November actually had 31 days, and each day had a theme and a flavor and a color?

Intermission: Popcorn, peanuts, sausage on a stick, don’t eat too much or you’ll get sick.

Opening act now will perform some stand up comedy jokes.

Squirrel Jokes:

What do you call a fight between squirrels? … A squarrel!

What is a squirrel’s favorite way to watch TV? … Nut-flix!

Why is it a bad idea to work for squirrels?

They pay peanuts!

Now for the main event … a poem about this most unusual day …

31 days has November
and if a tree falls in the woods
you won’t remember
because this day is like no other
you might want to stay
under your cover
Beware the Ides come rushing in
riding on leaves blown in the wind
howling and yowling with frost on their breath
you feel they bring a harbinger of death
So don’t be complacent, just be on your toes
watch with your eyes, and smell with your nose
hear with your ears, and use your brain
November 31 willllll be here again!

Here are some photos of trees in a park here, showing their gnarly bark.

First one is looking upward into the tree branches. I was standing right under, by the trunk. (Browns & greens)

The next one is a close up of the bark. Bark on trees is always interesting in the patterns it makes, and how rough it feels.

Third photo is another tree in a park, Can you find the squirrel? (he’s sitting in shadows as a sillouette way up in the branches – upper left)

Last photo is another park tree. It’s roots and bark are mostly in the water, with green branches hanging over.

The Sixth Annual Contest Of Whatever!

This Contest of Whatever is just that…make up something silly…whatever you want, but it needs to start out with this:

A squirrel walked into a bar…

The rest is up to you. There’s still a few days left, if you’d like to join in the fun. 🙂

A squirrel walked into a bar…

Looking around he asks Doc, the bartender, “Is the the COW place?”

The bartender shrugged. “Whatever you want…what’ll it be?”

Thinking a few moments, the squirrel asks for a Daiquiri with an almond in it.

Knowing they were fresh out of almonds, Doc the bartender puts a Hickory nut into the Daiquiri instead.

“Here ya go”, he says to the squirrel.

The squirrel takes a sip. He can taste the difference. Calling over the bartender again, he says, “I didn’t order a Hickory Daiquiri, Doc.”

Doc laughed and laughed. “Sorry, squirrel, this is the COW bar, and you’ll take what you get.”

Squirrel went berserk, just like he’d done in church the past Sunday.
