Flower of the Day – Poinsettia
***
This is a light purple Poinsettia.
They are really unusual and pretty. I read that the grower sprays dye on a light colored Poinsettia, shortly before shipping. As the plant ages, the colored bracts fall off and the plant will be in original color that it started out as.

Today’s prompt words is ‘pretty’.
***
Pretty is a ‘pretty good’ word. Mostly we are encouraged to not use it in our writing, because it is a bit bland. There are so many other words to spice it up, or enliven whatever you’re writing about. We could use beautiful, exciting, wonderful, awesome, gorgeous, amazing, breath taking, or fabulous. Then again, ‘pretty’ is sometimes just right. It’s hard to know how much enthusiasm you want to add to the thought or conversation. If someone asks you what you think of what they are wearing, for instance, and it’s just ok to your eyes, you don’t want to hurt their feelings, so you say it’s pretty.
So, that’s all I have about that. Now, for ‘pretty good’. My dad was one who always said this, no matter what. haha, it was a family joke, after awhile, because we all knew he’d say that. “How was the meal?” … “Pretty good.” … “How does this outfit look on me?”… “Pretty good.”… “Did you like the movie?”… “It was pretty good.” 🙂
I’m ‘pretty’ sure you’ve heard of these, too… “Pretty as a picture”, “Pretty is as Pretty Does”, “Pretty Please”, and “Sittin’ Pretty”.
Anyway, here’s a real ‘pretty’ song about not being ‘pretty enough’, by Kasey Chambers. She’s a singer from Australia, and we love all her songs. Enjoy! 🙂
