Odd Poem October (new)

***

This one came to me from out of the blue

While I was getting my breakfast set up too

Heat lightning flickers in the dark summer night

But it brings us no rainy delight

Da Dat Da Dat Da Daaa

I can’t think of anything else though

I think I should

***

Oh … Now I know why I thought of this poem. The weather news was on the tv and it was saying how  much we are in a dry drought situation, where today we have no burning warnings because if a spark catches onto all the dry grass and things here it will result in a bad wildfire, or even in the city it could cause a fire. That happens also, when we do ever get lightning around here if it strikes the ground.

But here’s a real lightning bolt I took a photo of one time – and a song 🙂

***

This photo of a lightning bolt is the one and only time I’ve been lucky enough to get one.

It was coming up a storm right at twilight. The sky was dark blue and gray with clouds above, and orange below, as the sun had just set. I snapped the shutter as fast as I could over and over, hoping I’d get one just right before I got struck by the lightning.

CFFC – Afternoon & Evening & Dusk

 CFFC

Dan is now hosting Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge! Find information at the below link. Thanks so much for continuing this fun challenge each week, Dan.

For Dan’s challenge:

Time of day—Afternoon — CFFC

***

We had a very rainy afternoon I think it was the summer of 2019. These photos show the rain coming down in parallel lines! The two trees are in two different neighbor’s yards across from us.

***

***

This week we are looking up at clouds! These photos were taken one afternoon. Nice and fluffy. 🙂

***

We see people riding horses around here quite a lot. These three riders and horses were taking a break by wading in the lake by our house one day.

And some from evening, maybe:

Time of day—Evening — CFFC

Still bright sun in dark blue evening sky with a planet shining above.

Evening sun looking west, 6:32 p.m.

From a Wiki article:

A mackerel sky is a common term for clouds made up of rows of cirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds displaying an undulating, rippling pattern similar in appearance to fish scales;[1][2] this is caused by high altitude atmospheric waves.[3]

31 Days of Halloween – Dusk

This photo is one I was just lucky enough to get. It was taken by my phone camera, and I just kept clicking hoping to catch when the lightning struck! 🙂

It was just at dusk, you can see our back yard all shadowy, and there are gray clouds above orange sky. Then there is a big flash of light with a streak of bright lightning coming down to the ground.

Bonked on the Head

Bonked on the Head

***

Picture of dark skies, and a bright streak of lightning I took a few years ago.

***

***

So, I was bonked on the head last night.

Here’s what happened…

The ferocious thunderstorm, with crashing lightning and thunder, buckets of rain, and hail pinging off the windows woke me up around midnight. As usual I’d fallen asleep in the recliner chair while I was reading, but after the loud noise woke me up, decided I’d better go on to bed. First a visit to the bathroom.

Just as I went in there, I was bonked on the head by something falling from the ceiling! Still half asleep, I fumbled around trying to find what it was. I looked down at the floor and saw the overhead, plastic light fixture cover was the culprit. Good thing it was only plastic, as the other light we have over the sink, has a glass cover.

Anyway, I set the cover off to the side. But, then that light went out. At least I had the sink light on, too. At first I thought maybe the lightning or the rumbling thunder that was shaking the house had made it all happen. Who knows…could have been.

I finally made it back to bed, and Cricket and I watched the storm some more out the west windows…flash boom ping –  flash boom ping! The storm was over by the morning.

I AM NOT AFRAID

Standard

I AM NOT AFRAID

Listen…silence is broken

Lone lobo laments his lonliness

In the still of the sultry night

I am not afraid

Moon flowers look to the stars above

Heat lightning foretells the future

Storm a’coming; I feel it in my bones

I am not afraid

COLOR YOUR WORLD – INDIGO

COLOR YOUR WORLD – INDIGO untitled 1024x768-indigo-solid-color-background

For today’s color match, we have Indigo. I thought indigo was a deep, dark blue. This color swatch looks lilac/purple to me, though. I don’t know why.

I was lucky to have taken this photo just as the lightning struck!

The other one is just a pretty picture of the moon. 🙂
