I missed this one yesterday (Fri) so I’ll do it now.

Hobbies … I guess you can call things you enjoy doing a hobby.

I like writing and reading, and have from my earliest days of learning how. When does a hobby turn into a way of life? It’s just what I do every single day.

I’ve done lots of arts and crafts over the years. They come and go and hold my interest for awhile. These are painting pictures, and rocks. Drawing things, sewing things, including machine and needle works, plaster craft, leathercraft, wood burning designs, and probably a lot more I can’t think of right now. I’m pretty much into doing the coloring book coloring every day now, too.

Oh, jigsaw puzzles are an every day thing to do, and watching some TV (can that be a hobby?)

Taking photos with my phone is another one I like to do.

That’s about it for now. Hope your weekend is going good. 🙂

Random Post # 14 – Current Crafts

***

I like doing lots of crafts. Here’s some photos of some that I’ve done.

The drawings are some zentangle inspired art. The bookmarks are some I’ve done to leave at random places I go. These are left for others to find and enjoy.

Then, just because I like drawing, a page in my art notebook about music.

One of my current projects is painting kindness rocks. I paint them, then leave them around town for others to find, and pass along. It’s fun, and sometimes they post a photo of the one they found.

Question # 4

4. What were your hobbies as you were growing up?

***

My Answer:

There were so many things I did in the way of hobbies. I’d try all kinds of arts and crafts type things. I never knew what to do with the things I finished, but I had fun making them. Some of them were:

My mosaic picture

  • Making mosaic pictures using little colored rocks. They usually came in a kit. I still have one that I made.
  • Drawing all kinds of things. I drew on any kind of paper I could find, like manilla paper, notebook paper, butcher paper, brown paper bags, and even the back of wall paper samples. I once entered a drawing contest, like you see in a magazine, where you draw the little provided picture, then send it in. They were supposed to tell you if it was any good, I guess. Well, I drew the picture of the face of Abraham Lincoln. It looked pretty good, so I sent it in. Awhile later a representative of the Art Institute School, came to our house to say how good my drawing was. However…he found out I was only like 10 or 12 years old, so I was too young to get a place in their art school. He said I should check them out when I was legal age. I still have the picture I drew, and the letter from them.  … Otherwise, I mostly drew horses and dogs.
  • Painting with watercolors. I had a big easel, and lots of paint, so I’d paint a lot of things.
  • Embroidery. I’d sew little pictures all over my dad’s handkerchiefs, and also on pillowcases. My grandma taught me how to do embroidery, and I did keep on with it for many years. I’d make dish towels with embroidered pictures on them, to give as gifts.
  • Reading all the books I could. Also, writing all kinds of things.

This list is getting too long, but I sure tried my hand at these and many more hobby-like things over the years.

JIGSAW JOURNEY

JIGSAW JOURNEY

Here’s how it’s been going on the Jigsaw Puzzle Journey.

I finally finished the one called “Tasty Treats”, yesterday evening. It took me about 18 days, of working on it for a couple hours a day. I wanted to give up a few times, but kept going. Sometimes, I’d only find 4 or 5 pieces in a session. It was pretty hard. I did have a little help toward the end from my husband, who found quite a few of the pieces. He kept saying – you can do it, keep going. 🙂 We thought a piece was missing. In the photo (if you enlarge it), you can see where the missing piece should go, but we did find it later, under some stuff on the table. Now, I’ll tear it down, and start a new one. Here’s the finished “Tasty Treats’ one.

This next one is by the same puzzle people, and is called “Cereal Boxes”. It is another 1,000 piece puzzle. I imagine it will be just as huge, and difficult as the last two were. Well, I better get started on it. I’ll let you know when I finish! 🙂 Meanwhile, happy puzzling for those who love to do jigsaw puzzles.

P.S. I did get a brand new puzzle for Mother’s Day, from my daughter & family. It will be next on the table, and is only 750 pieces! 🙂

JIGSAW PUZZLE UPDATE

JIGSAW PUZZLE UPDATE

Awhile back I posted a photo of a jigsaw puzzle I completed. Since then I’ve finished three more. They are fun to do, but takes several days for me to work them. Here’s the latest ones:

Sugar Skull

This one took the longest – it was pretty difficult! There is a piece missing. It was a brand new puzzle, though, so I may have just lost the piece somewhere.

Furry Friends

This one was easier, but had some trouble spots, mostly the shaggy dog parts, and even the cat! I liked the picture of cute animals.

This last one I finished today. It says it’s a Kodak Decades puzzle depicting the 40s.

It was fairly easy, as it had a lot of things to identify on there, like the written letter.

I’ll be starting a new one later today! 🙂
