And I didn’t know it when I started working on this post last night, but today it is …
International Cat Day is a celebration which takes place on 8 August of every year. It was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. It is a day to raise awareness for cats and learn about ways to help and protect them.
Bee says:
This month I challenge you to share one of your favourite authors every day. As an additional challenge also share a song that connects in some way with that author.

As I mostly do, I’m featuring a favorite book instead of author. To me, favorite author means I get all their books and wish for more. If I like one book by an author, that doesn’t make them a favorite author, though the book might be.

THE TENTH GARFIELD TREASURY
“The Tenth Garfield Treasury”, was one I’d gotten at the library book sale a long time ago. I basically skimmed through the pages. I’ve read a lot of the Garfield books, and read the comics in newspapers for years. This one is a compilation of some of those, so are kind of recycled comics from another place.
It’s the usual antics that Garfield, the cat, gets up to with his cartoon family, Jon, and the dog, Odie. As always they are funny, and I love seeing the way they are drawn.
Garfield comics first made an appearance in 1978, the creation of Jim Davis. This book was printed in 1999, by Ballantine Publishing Group.
If you like comics, and cats doing funny things, you’ll like reading this one, too. 🙂

Here’s some interesting information about the Garfield comics. The image in all products with the Garfield images, were illustrated by Mike Fentz, of Muncie, Indiana. Here’s a couple of biography and work related articles of his experience.

Now for a fun fact!

My daughter used to live with Mike Fentz’s family in Indiana. She was attending college up there, at Ball State University, and needed a place to stay. Somehow she knew someone who made it happen that she was offered a place in their home for quite a while. 🙂
