Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “plot.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

A farmer once had a plot

In summer his  plot was hot

So he dug a trench

In order to drench

And water flowed to hit the spot

His plot grew lots of food

Which put him in a good mood

He sold at the market

Putting money in his pocket

He was known as the Farmer Dude

Many years ago my in-laws lived on a farm and tilled the earth, grew vegetables, and harvested them.

Father in law’s vegetable field

As far as I know, he was not known as Farmer Dude, and they didn’t go to market to sell vegetables.

  1. My first husband was good at growing strawberries. Another young couple grew cabbages, so we swapped.
Hubby and I have had luck with onions, tomatoes, green beans, cabbages, and potatoes, and have shared with our friends. We didn’t grow anything this year as we’d hoped to be moving. Don’t know about 2026 yet.

    • Thanks, Di! That is really good that you’re able to grow lots of good vegetables. They are always better than store bought I think. We’ve had a garden a couple of times and got a few things from it. Not from me doing anything, except maybe going out to pick things off the plant. My husband did all the planting and stuff. 🙂

    • Thanks, Carol Anne! I’m glad you like the poem/limericks. It is kind of fun to have a little garden plot for your own use, but big farms with fields full of produce sure would take a lot of work. 🙂
