Shanghai, July 1 (Reporter Yin Lijin) During the 2025 summer travel period (July 1 to August 31), the two airports of Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao are expected to handle 150,000 flights (including 100,000 flights at Pudong Airport and 50,000 flights at Hongqiao Airport); it is expected to ensure the transportation of 24.55 million passengers (including 15.87 million passengers at Pudong Airport and 8.68 million passengers at Hongqiao Airport), with an average daily passenger flow of 396,000.
In terms of domestic routes, new and more frequent flights will be opened from Shanghai to Kashgar, Yining, Hetian, Kucha, and Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia. For international routes, new flights will be opened to Almaty, Kazakhstan, Kumamoto, Japan, and Ulan Bator, Mongolia, and flights to London, Vietnam, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia will be intensified. It is expected that Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Sanya, and Urumqi will become popular domestic travel destinations. Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore will become popular international travel destinations.

Photo by Yin LijinIn response to the characteristics of an increasing number of family travelers, first-time travelers, foreign travelers, elderly travelers, and unaccompanied children during the summer travel period, Shanghai Airport has continuously optimized and improved travel services, providing passengers with full-process sincere service guarantees and showcasing the ultimate service image of Shanghai Airport. Pudong Airport has added self-service luggage check-in areas at T1 domestic and T2 international terminals, upgraded the domestic and international flight transfer services at T2. Hongqiao Airport, in cooperation with airlines such as China Eastern, Southern Airlines, and Joy Air, has upgraded cross-airline transfer services, achieving seamless connection of baggage transfer between different airlines.

To facilitate passengers traveling late at night and transfer passengers, Pudong Airport, on the basis of 24-hour domestic departure security checks introduced in May this year, jointly launched 24-hour customs clearance services for international, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan flights on July 1. It has created overnight rest areas for passengers at the domestic arrival level of T1, the domestic mixed flow level of T2, the domestic mixed flow of T2 Satellite Hall, and the international departure level, equipped with comfortable sofas and loungers for passengers to rest. It has also synchronizedly improved charging services, set up vending machines, and provided 24-hour services in some convenience stores and catering shops. During the summer travel period, it has successively launched airport rest cabins and shower rooms, making the rest of passengers at the airport more comfortable and convenient.

Photo by Yin LijinDuring the peak summer travel period, with the influence of extreme weather such as typhoons, heavy rain, and high temperatures, Shanghai Airport has proactively optimized and improved the emergency operation and security plan for severe weather conditions. On one hand, it gives full play to the overall coordination role of the two airports' management committee, adjusts flight schedules dynamically according to weather conditions, increases ticket counters and security checkpoints as needed, and strengthens the release of flight adjustment information. On the other hand, it actively provides services for delayed flights and bottom-line flights. Pudong Airport, in cooperation with 11 airlines, provides the 'Flight Delay Enjoyment' service, distributing meal coupons to delayed passengers that can be used at more than 100 airport catering shops, offering a variety of food choices, and ensuring 'flight delay services are not delayed'.
