Dance On Doncaster
Get Doncaster Moving fund a programme called 'Dance On Doncaster' which is delivered by darts, to encourage people aged over 50 years old to get active and have fun through local dance classes.
Dance classes take place weekly and are suitable for any fitness level and those who are new to dancing. The sessions are run by professional dancers who are experienced in supporting older adults to exercise through dance.
Classes take place weekly in Auckley, Bessacarr, Edlington, Stainforth, The Point (Doncaster city centre). There are also weekly classes tailored to specific needs as follows:
Dance On Strength & Balance
Dance On Strength & Balance takes place weekly at Woodfield Park Community Hall (Balby). Dance On Strength and Balance is designed for over 55s and blends the joy of movement with targeted exercises to enhance stability and coordination, build confidence and reduce the risk of falls.
Dance On Parkinson's
Designed for adults living with Parkinson's, these Dance On sessions blend movement with targeted exercises to help develop strength, coordination and balance and improve mental wellbeing. These lively, fun sessions are flexible and tailored to the needs of those taking part. Suitable for all abilities and mobilities, participants can take part seated or standing, with or without support. Dance On for Parkinson's is also about making connections with others and building new friendships, and there is time for a cuppa and a chat at the end.
Visit the Dance On website for details of the class timetables:
Doncaster Dance Network Alliance
The Doncaster Dance Network Alliance was established in 2023 by darts, with support from Get Doncaster Moving and is hosted by darts at The Point.
Aligned with the Doncaster Dance Strategy's six dance ambitions, our network aims to foster collaboration, explore new opportunities, and celebrate the diverse dance and movement practices within Doncaster. We share best practices, information, and work to elevate the profile of all dance opportunities on offer in the city.
Open to anyone in Doncaster with an interest in dance or movement, including dance schools, arts organisations, freelance artists, community groups, and health professionals, our network meets every other month at The Point.
