Did you know that getting active can reduce anxiety and stress, combat low mood and increase self-esteem? It can help you feel good on the inside and out.
We know that starting something new can be challenging, and getting active is no exception. Here you'll find some tips, resources and inspirational stories to help you on your way.
Benefits of moving more
There are numerous benefits to being physically active - not only for our physical health, but also for our mental health and overall wellbeing, including:

Getting started
Think about what matters to you
Being clear why you want to be more active will help to keep you motivated.
Start with small changes
When taking the first steps to a more active life, starting small is the key to building lasting habits. Whether it's a dance around your kitchen whilst the kettle boils, seated movements during the TV ads, or gardening, it's all good for your health.
Choose activities you enjoy
If you enjoy an activity, you are far more likely to keep doing it. You might need to try a few different things to find something you like. And what you like might change over time.
Make it social
You might like to do something with friends or family – they can help keep you motivated too. Or perhaps meet new people by joining a local group or club and enjoy activities including walking, dancing or sports.
Wear something comfortable and stay hydrated
You don't need special kit or equipment (unless for your own safety e.g. a helmet when cycling), but you do need to be comfortable and drink plenty of water.
Build activity into daily life
Start with small, easy activities and build up from there. See the 'Keeping Active Guides' for some suggestions. As a smaller habit becomes part of your routine, you can gradually make it bigger – but give yourself permission to go back to the smallest habit. If a habit isn't working, try adjusting it, or perhaps do something different.
Be kind to yourself
Everyone has good and bad days. Our energy levels will vary and sometimes we can't be as active as we might like. It's fine to slow down or take a break. If you miss a few days, just try and get back on track as soon as possible.
