Learning and Development

The story so far…

Learning and development is at the heart of the Get Doncaster Moving approach to how we work together to reduce physical inactivity levels in Doncaster.

At last year's GDM Summit, we reflected that our success and impact over recent years was as a result of our combined work as a network - and how we have worked together. It was made clear that there is an eagerness to continue to learn, develop and deliver together in this way.

We've responded to this and over the past year, together with the network, the Network Development Group and the GDM Advisory Board, we have developed an approach to how we can fulfil this need.

Together, we've been working to create new - and re-align existing - learning and development opportunities, looking at both the content required and what good learning experiences look like (and the creation of a set of agreed principles). The offer has been rooted in the knowledge, experience and skills of the network itself, and our shared aspirations for the future.

This has led to where we are today, with an enhanced package of learning and development support which is now being rolled out across the network. It will contain a range of training opportunities, learning experiences, bite sized versions of content, deep dive workshops, freely available tools and resources and spaces/forums to share learning and keep evolving our work and best practice.

This work is already underway – and the first course, 'Springboard' has been piloted and tested by GDM network members and expressions of interest are now being taken to attend a future session.

What next?

You can submit an expression of interest to attend a Springboard workshop now: Springboard

Additional resources to support the application of the EAST framework (following on from the summit keynote and workshop on this topic) will be available shortly. There will be an EAST framework mini-network meeting on the 8th May (online), which will bring together those interested in discussing this topic further, to share how ideas generated through the EAST framework have been implemented since the summit. More broadly, this meeting is an opportunity for those who have an interest in learning more about the practical application of behaviour change approaches in their own work to develop a learning and support space to further this thinking together: EAST framework

Opportunities such as these, will complement the existing programme of GDM network meetings and events already established as high-quality learning and development spaces.

Resources will start to be rolled out in the coming weeks to support our learning and development work.
