Communications and Engagement

Communications and Engagement

For change to happen, we need to take people on the journey with us.

How we collectively talk about being physically active matters. We must understand the barriers which people face which can prevent them from moving more, so that we can work to address them.

It is important that we increase the awareness of the importance of being active to connect and inspire people from all backgrounds to enjoy a more active life. We use data and insight driven targeted campaigns and engagement to support individual, community and population-level behaviour change.

Physical Activity Communications Group

The Physical Activity Communications Group brings together key partners across Doncaster to collaborate and co-ordinate physical activity messaging and campaigns. The group will work together to create a recognisable brand for movement, physical activity and sport across the Borough, with consistent messaging, campaigns and engagement.

The group consists of representatives from: Get Doncaster Moving, Well Doncaster, City of Doncaster Council, Doncaster Primary Care Network, South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, St Leger Homes, Club Doncaster Foundation, Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust and darts.

Framing physical activity messaging

We worked with the FrameWorks Institute, who developed evidence-based guidelines to change the frame of our campaigns and communications. Read their recommendations in the document below.
