Firstly: Return To Me is AMAZING. Haven't put up a XWP rec in a looooooong time, but I love this story. Maybe I've recced it before? Anyway...

-Great post FIN storyline, with Egyptian gods and goddesses
-Loads of angst
-Aphrodite/Gabrielle! [my not-so-secret second OTP]
-Xena has to work to get that soul-mate back

And it is a finished fic, as of today! :D


Secondly: All the Time, I think, has become my favorite AU [but still in high school] South Of Nowhere story.
Of course, I am not done reading it yet... but I am crossing my fingers that it won't disappoint me.
But I do not think it will. Hasn't yet and I am thirty-eight chapters in [lol].

-Angst? Check.
-Sexual tension? Check.
-Ashley being the drug/drink/one-night-stand girl, but somehow still amazingly blunt and gorgeously vulnerable? CHECK.
-Spencer being cute without being stupid/saccharine? Check. Thank god.
-Spencer not flipping out over sex and acting like a real teenager? DOUBLE CHECK.

I really do love this fic.

As for this rec list, I am still going with the seven song method ('coz seven is a nice number) and these are songs that make me think of these two lovely ladies - separately and together, during the good times (and bad and otherwise).

I've found that with each list I do, I then think up a dozen more songs that could be on them.
I am sure the same can be said for this one. ;)

So, I've been writing this little story over at Fanfiction.net and the idea came to me when watching footage of the 1965 Shea Stadium concert that The Beatles did. And here I am tonight, thinking about my plot-line....... and said to myself: 'Self, let's do a rec list of The Beatles songs I like the best!'

And I always tend to listen to myself. ;)

This was, by far, the hardest list I've had to put together so far. [sigh]
Very difficult to cut the scope of Beatles music to just seven songs.

First, the chatter.
Got some awesome board shorts today for twelve bucks. That is what I like to call a 'deal'. *nods*
My mother and I took my sister, Amy, out for her birthday. I ate too much.

Oh. Wanna know who is awesome? onlyjustwhisper, that's who. She enabled me to see The Secret Diaries Of Miss Anne Lister, which by the by, IS FREAKIN' AWESOME.
I actually felt giddy after watching it. The reasons why are numerous, but the main one being... I like seeing someone live life to the full, as they are, no hiding.
As a lesbian in this 'modern' world, I think it is pretty fucking cool to see someone (a real someone) who just did what came naturally to them and didn't conform to societies rules.

Heh. Miss Anne Lister is most natural indeed. ;D


Also, I want a three-day weekend. Please?

Jennifer's Body - Vinco is seriously good and on-point. I love some decent Jennifer/Needy fanfiction - whether it is all sexed-up or not. And this is so damn subtle.... I really suck at the description of this awesome-ness, so just go read it.

Xena Warrior Princess - Stories, Night Thoughts is by the same author as the above rec! Cool, right? Early Xena/Gabrielle connections, sweet without being saccharine and again with the subtle. Brilliant.

Skins - Baby Girl, I'm A Blur seems so silly, in a way - and it is, in a way - but also so wonderfully blunt and gorgeous and sexy as fuck. Plus, a happy Naomi/Emily. And even more so, random Keffy! Oh yea. It's that awesome.

Return To Me has all I need in a Xena fanfiction: action, maintext, a post-FIN fix and Gabrielle slipping into grief-induced warrior hazes (and getting her groove on with Aphrodite).

Did a massive re-watch of XWP whilst my computer was down. I love that freakin' show so much. Am thinking about writing for this fandom again. :)
