Music Rec List - Love & Lust + some other non-music related chatter

First, the chatter.
Got some awesome board shorts today for twelve bucks. That is what I like to call a 'deal'. *nods*
My mother and I took my sister, Amy, out for her birthday. I ate too much.

Oh. Wanna know who is awesome? onlyjustwhisper, that's who. She enabled me to see The Secret Diaries Of Miss Anne Lister, which by the by, IS FREAKIN' AWESOME.
I actually felt giddy after watching it. The reasons why are numerous, but the main one being... I like seeing someone live life to the full, as they are, no hiding.
As a lesbian in this 'modern' world, I think it is pretty fucking cool to see someone (a real someone) who just did what came naturally to them and didn't conform to societies rules.

Heh. Miss Anne Lister is most natural indeed. ;D

Also, I want a three-day weekend. Please?

It is a pretty simple theme, people - these are songs that, to me, bring out the most love and/or lust in me when I hear them. These seven songs hit the mark, all the good and bad ones.

--Simply fucking gorgeous in every single way. Smooth and tender, so damn romantic and lush - and that is just the song. The video matches up so well, with Sade on top of that building and the wind blowing through her hair as she strums that guitar... This is a love song, folks. This is what it sounds like when you fall willingly.

Goldfrapp - 'Strict Machine'

--Oh, those pesky people who won't let you embed. I could have given you a shitty version (or a live version), but no... I want you to really hear it. And this is the most clear one on all of YT.
Why must you hear it clearly? Because you might want to be able to fully soak in the sound of pure sex, that's why.
This song is crazy hot. Let me be even more blunt than that: it is a song almost perfectly made for having sex (of the insanely-good variety).
Got it? Good. ;)

--Long before Something's Gotta Give (and, yes, I do adore that film), I heard this song while in a real 50's & 60's music addiction. And I thought it to be one of the most romantic songs ever created, like when you actually see stars in your eyes as you look at someone beautiful... and someone captured that in a song! Holy hell, this is a good one.

--But, okay, love isn't always nice and sex isn't always tidy. The dirty and sweaty side of love, the obsessive and broken-down side of lust - all of that is in this song, with the raw sound of Trent Reznor's voice and the somewhat sinister beats that continue to build, to pulse, to push at you. There are always things churning underneath us all that we want to hide as much as we want to reveal - and within desire, those things tend to explode... and that is why this song works so damn well.

(ps - I so could have given you the actual video, but I wanted you to have the longer version.)

--I almost do not have words that are splendid enough to describe the over-all sensuality of this song. It is so perfect, so utterly real, that it about makes me tremble. It is all slow approach and subtle touches and glances that hold, all of this caught in a song that is barely over two minutes. Absolutely heart-stopping.

--So, I know that Plumb is a Christian group... so maybe this is some kind of love song to God, I don't know. However! I love it [lol]. It is that sweeping kind of song, the one that makes you believe that you can move mountains with the strength of your love for someone. Totally romance-novel kind of love: all epic and grand and so forth.
And, yes, I am a sucker for that kind of stuff. So sue me.

k.d. lang - 'Hush Sweet Lover'

--Okay. It's a freakin' Chinese YouTube. Wow. :D
Anyway, the song. The best voice in the history of the world? Yes, indeed, it is true. Romantic and delicious and inviting - it is built for love-making, the kind that is going somewhere deep and blissful. And it just so happens to remind me of a woman I once knew, in a really lovely way, so that just adds to how sweet this song truly is.

Right, that damn list could have gone on for years. Sheesh.
I'll have to do a heart-break version sometime soon.
