Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Public Privacy

Here in a restaurant you are in a public place, yet when you go down the hall or around a corner, there exists some doors marked ‘his’ or ‘hers’, or any number of ways to indicate the restrooms. When you enter, you are pretty much guaranteed your privacy.

These blue doors were at a Mexican restaurant, and the doors say Mejur (women) and Hombes (men). There is also a sign with a cut out looking lady, and also a wheelchair, and it says women.

The next photo is a little gag gift funny. It’s a wooden ‘bathroom bank’ shaped like an old fashioned outhouse. It has a saying on the outside … ‘We moved our bathroom in. It cost a lot of dough. Please drop a quarter in, Each time you have to go’. I suppose you would have your privacy out in the middle of the outdoors if you went inside an outhouse. Oh, that is kind of like the port’o’potties you see sometimes now. haha 🙂

And now for something completely different. A library, with all the shelves and books. It’s a public place, yet you are walking around mostly silently, with your private thoughts about all these books, and which ones you want to check out. I know I can get completely lost in daydreaming while in a library.

Fill’er Up – SOCS – Fill or Be Filled

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS June 10, 2023

****

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last thing you filled.” Think about the last thing you filled or the contents you filled it with and use one or both of those things as your prompt. Enjoy!

Thoughts are filling up my mind, so I’ll just empty them here.

I’m always filling and re-filling my tea glass. First thing almost in the morning I fill up my tea glass with ice and tea. It’s a large glass, but that’s just what I call it. It’s not glass at all, it’s a metal one with a screw on lid and a straw. I use this because it’s kind of thermal, in that it keeps my cold drink cold for a long time, and the lid keeps it from spilling. That’s because at least once a day I knock it over.

First though, I fill my coffee cup with coffee. That is a must. But right after that coffee is done, I fill the tea glass. This goes on and on all day long. I drink it all, then re-fill over and over.

What else have I filled this morning? I ‘fulfilled’ my morning medicine taking. There will be more fulfilling of medicines during the day.

I have filled my nostrils with nose drops, because I was all stuffy. That helped a lot.

I’ve filled in a lot of typing so far this morning. I filled a page in my ‘saved’ blog pages writing about a funny dream I had. I write them all down if I remember. This one I woke myself up laughing out loud last night. I filled up a page with a morning flower, and I’m in the process of filling up this page with random thoughts.

Sometime during the day I’ll be adding to the filling in of the jigsaw puzzle we have going, and I’ll do some filling in of some pictures with color in my coloring books. I do both of these every day.

I’ll be filling up on snacks and lunch, and supper, and snacks, and more tea, and milk and coffee, too.

Oh, and the title says ‘Fill’er Up’, and that is what we always used to say when we got our gas tank in the car filled up at the full serve gas station back in the day.

So, have I filled in enough thoughts of filling up or on here? I think so.

One last thought  – I hope you have a fun filled, and fulfilled weekend. ❤

Reflection on a to Z Blog Challenge 2019

***

Now that the A to Z Blog Challenge 2019 is finished, we are to reflect back on our journey through the alphabet, as we did, one day at a time.

This was my 6th time to participate, and it was just as fun and interesting as it was every other time.

I didn’t have a dedicated theme to my posts this year, but posted a variety of topics, from true ghost stories to funny word definitions. A few of my posts were brand new, but most had been written a long time ago on here, but almost no one came to visit, or commented, or even pushed the like button on them. So, why not post them again to see what would happen this time around.

Well, I had a wonderful response from my readers! Thanks so much for your support. I appreciate it very much.

I enjoyed visiting the posts of those others who were taking part in the A to Z this year, too. There are so many talented and interesting people who blog out there, and never enough time to get around to every single one that was on the sign up list. So many of my regular blogging friends were also doing this challenge, it was all I could manage to visit them, if not every day, then at least a few times.

~

For next year’s April A to Z, I will probably participate again. I may or may not have a certain theme, but I’m leaning toward that, as it seems easier to know beforehand what you will be posting about. As it is, we have almost a whole year to come up with something fun and new for a theme.

All in all, I love this challenge, and plan on doing it again next year!

Mystery Box Chickens say, “Thank you for visiting! We did it! See you next April! Bye 4 Now!”

Mystery Box Chickens

The Mystery Box Chickens thank you for stopping by for a visit, and wish you a happy year ahead! They will take a little break, then will be hard at work on next April’s A to Z! See you then. 🙂

Here’s an excerpt from one of my long ago posts that surmises that we all have a self-storage unit within our brains…

Self storage is where we store our past selves. Ok…cool…seems legitimate. We’re born, our brains begin to soak up tons of information, and it’s all up there in our head somewhere, right? If I really try, I can imagine the brain as a living storage building business. For each area of learning…say, language, feelings, talents learned, studies in school lessons, compassion, and empathy, love, things we hear, see, taste…all our learning is kept in these separate rooms. We respond to outside life events by opening the door to the appropriate unit in our brain, according to how much experience we’ve had.

Anyway, all our past is stored in our self storage brain, to be used in fractions of seconds. It’s amazing how that works.

***

We all have the key to unlock our own self-storage rooms. Sometimes we refer to ‘triggers’, that unlock a memory, instead of a key. Lots of things can trigger a memory, either from long ago, or more recent. When you hear a certain song, or re-visit a certain place, those can set off a chain reaction of memories, good or bad. It’s amazing how this happens, and happens in a split second. You are right back to where the first incident happened. You have automatically and without thoughts of doing it, opened a storage unit room to your past self.

That’s all my thoughts for the prompt word ‘self’, today.
