A to Z 2022 – TV Theme Songs – Bewitched

My theme for this year will actually be a theme! It will be …
- TV Theme Songs
I’ll be showing short videos of the opening theme songs of old TV shows, and saying a few words about them. They are all shows I’ve watched in the past and enjoyed. Maybe you’ve seen some of them too, and will enjoy this look back at some favorites.

Bewitched was about a woman, Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) who is a witch and is married to a regular human mortal (Dick York and later by Dick Sargent) . He doesn’t like his wife to use any cool witchcraft tricks, and complains, but mostly overlooks them anyway. Samantha’s mother, Endora ( Agnes Moorehead), is the typical interfering mother-in-law. Lots of other quirky characters and situations.
Bewitched is a fun show that we watch pretty often in re-runs now.
A few fun facts about the show:
- Two actors played the Darrin Stephens, Dick York, and Dick Sargent. No on air explanation was given for the change in looks of the character.
- Elizabeth Montgomery played two parts – that of Samantha, and her twin cousin Serena.
- Later, the Stephens had two children, a boy and a girl, and they both had magical powers.
- The color green was used a lot, from Samantha’s wardrobe, to even the carpets in the house. It was planned that way because green was associated with witches.
- Elizabeth Montgomery’s wardrobe was frequently from her own real life clothes.
