Funny & Found -aw aw aw aw Stupid

I always declare it ‘awesome’ when I find things like these …

I’m forever buying used notebooks, diaries, scrapbooks, yearbooks, and finding fun things in them.  I also find other things that are funny, or it’s funny where I find them.

I find people’s discarded grocery lists, too, along with whole photo albums, cards and letters.

I just like finding things like these, because I try to imagine who wrote them, why something was discarded, and what the people’s stories are.

So, I’ll post a few of these from time to time.

Here’s a page from a little used notebook that I bought at a yard sale. I’m sure it belonged to a kid. They didn’t write much in it, though.

This one was in a lilac and light blue notebook with flowers on it. The page is lined, and a big red letter W was scribbled on it, with the word ‘stupid’. The only writing in ink was the top line saying, ‘aw aw aw aw aw aw’.

Do you have reason to believe that actual objects can be teleported from one place to another, by paranormal means?

If you’ve read my other posts, on this subject, you already know that I believe it is possible. It happened to me and my daughter, and to my cat, Weena.

There are a few more incidents of this kind, involving non-living objects, too…right here in the house.

This first one concerned a recipe I was looking for. It was for brownies…a favorite recipe I’ve used for years, because they always turn out great, and are easy to make.

It had been written in a little notebook, on blue paper, probably a little larger than an index card. The notebook had come apart a long time ago, but I still had the little blue pages of recipes. This one was hand-written by my mother, so I didn’t want to lose it. She had passed on quite a few years ago.

Anyway, I wanted to make a pan of brownies, so I looked in the kitchen drawer, where I keep recipes, but couldn’t find it. I found lots of those blue pages, with other recipes written on them, and several books, and other papers, but this brownie one was not there where it should have been.

I did look in one more place, just in case it had been put in there. It was a clear, plastic storage bin of drawers, that held kitchen items. It wasn’t there, either. I mean, I took everything out of both places, going through each bit of paper, and book, more than one time.

Finally I gave up ever finding it. It was lost.

I sat down at the table, for a few minutes, just thinking, where could it be? So, I tried something…I spoke out loud, asking my mother if she knew where it was, and could she help me find it. After another few minutes, I got the funny feeling that I should look over to the clear, plastic cart of drawers.

I look, and immediately see the recipe in the bottom drawer, in the front, in plain sight. There was no mistaking it, and it was not there, before.

I go over and get the recipe…yes, it’s the brownie recipe I’d been searching for. I got to make the brownies that day, after all.

Now…how do you explain something like that? I think, with my mother’s help, that it was able to re-materialize here, from some other place…another dimension? a parallel universe? I’ll never know where it was, or how it came back, I guess. But, I believe it was teleported from somewhere.

Maybe, it was the power of believing that helped it to manifest back over here, in our reality, because I really wanted some brownies!

This is the original recipe page. It is old, faded, and worn out. I covered it in plastic, and it looks a mess, but I’m so glad I still have it.

Flower of the Day – Mystery Leaf

***

Now, here’s a leaf my daughter found. It was in April of 2019, so not really time for fall leaves. She said there weren’t any more, just the one, and no trees around the area that had this type of leaf. Does anyone know what kind of tree it might be from, or if it is actually from a tree? It’s an elongated oval shape and yellow with some brown spots.

And…the Weirdness Continues

And…the Weirdness Continues

***

So, I’ve told you about the missing book about making salt dough ornaments, and guess what? I found the book! It was nowhere near where I saw it last, and I found it in a big plastic tub of stuff I save for using in scrapbooks, and wrapping paper things I was going to throw away. I don’t know why I all of a sudden felt the need to go through that tub. I’m glad I did, though. Now, could be I’d put the book there myself at some time or other, but I don’t remember doing it. That’s why I never looked there earlier. Here’s the book…

Then, you know I got only two of my hair clips back…the others are still missing.

Here’s the weird thing that happened last night, clear out of the blue!

Let me set the scene… (yes, I wrote it down right after it happened)

It was 9:14 p.m.

Most of the lights in the house were turned off, so it wasn’t bright at all, as I sat here at my computer desk. The Mr. had already gone to bed, and Cricket, our cat, was dozing right by my feet. It was fairly quiet, even though the TV was on, at a lower volume. I was playing some game on the computer (sound turned off).

Suddenly, I hear a clinking sound like something fell on the hardwood floor right by me. I thought maybe a screw had come loose from my swivel office chair, so rolled it back to look at the floor. I looked at Cricket and she looked at me (she looked startled, too), and I said, “What was that?”

At first I didn’t see anything, but then noticed a dime coin was on the floor. Here’s a picture I took of it today. Just an ordinary dime, right?

But, where did it come from?

I’d been sitting in my chair, and gotten up and down from it, and walked past the computer desk, all day long, and there was no money laying around. I don’t keep my purse in this room, and never have any money on the shelf by my desk, either.

Just out of the blue, there came this dime, clinking down from somewhere.

As soon as it happened, my husband came quickly into the living room asking, “What was that loud noise?” I guess it woke him up. I told him it was just a dime on the floor, and he went back to bed.

I didn’t hear a loud noise, just the clink of the dime as it hit the floor.

Very strange.

Maybe the house ghost was trying to pay me for my missing hair clips? You never know.

Another thing with dimes that wasn’t really strange happened a couple of days ago, too. At the store I paid in cash, and got a dime in change. Then in the parking lot on the way to the car, I found a dime on the pavement, and I picked it up and put it in my purse. Hadn’t thought of it since, until the dime appeared falling to the floor. My purse, as I said, is never kept in the living room, so the extra dimes couldn’t have fallen out of it at all. I also looked in my purse, and the two dimes from the other day were still in there. So this new one was a completely random one!

What is it with these dimes? Is there some kind of connection?

Anyway, that’s what’s been happening. I’ll let you know if anything else weird goes on around here.

Welcome to the 2018 edition of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!

All through the month of April, the challenge asks us to blog every day (except Sundays), and to go through the alphabet A to Z, connecting our posts to the letter of each day.

My idea for this time, my 5th to participate, is to showcase a book or two each day, and provide a tiny bit of information about them. These will not be a full book review, but just saying what it is about, and if I liked the book or not.

These books are mostly books that I already have on my shelves, and have read, or are on my to be read stacks. There will be a very few of them that I don’t already own, or have read.

I will also post a quote each day that has something to say about books, or reading.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe see a book or a few that you might want to read, too.

“Found”, by Davy Rothbart, is a weirdly wonderful book. I have two of them.

The author has a penchant for finding all kinds of random things. He actively goes around looking for odd things, like notes, photos, cards, letters, and more. He finds things like this on the sidewalks, alleys, stores, and really everywhere he goes. Then, he created the “Found” magazine, and books, where he shows what he has found, and talks about finding them. Some are very strange, some are sad, and some are really funny.

I love doing this, myself. I find all kinds of things, too, and plan on making a scrapbook of them.

“Father Does Know Best”, by Lauren Chapin, is the memoir of the actress who played Kathy “Kitten” Anderson, on the TV sit-com, “Father Knows Best”. The series ran from 1954 through 1960. I’m pretty sure I watched every episode, as it was one of my favorite shows. It plays occasionally in re-runs.

The happy family portrayed in the TV series, was a far cry from her real life, where she was mentally, emotionally, and sexually abused. She also became a drug user, had failed marriages, and miscarriages. This is her very candid look back at her life and career.
