tower at the WWI museum in KC

While visiting my daughter and family, we visited the National WW1 Museum and Memorial. We also went up to the top of the tower, where we could walk around the top looking at a 360 degree view of Kansas City.

The first two photos show the tower from a distance, then very close up looking way up to the top of it. The next photos show what we saw while on the top, looking down at the city.

This is the high school I went to. Lubbock High School was founded in 1891, and moved to this brand new building in 1931. It was built in the Romanesque Revival style. I think it is a beautiful building.

LHS is haunted. This fact has been known for many years. I, myself, experienced weird things, when I attended classes there. People have seen ghostly figures in the bell tower, and heard music coming from empty rooms. There are strange knocking sounds from inside the sealed walls, and I could feel the strangeness while walking in the 3rd floor back hallway. The arches in front are very spooky. You can hear a weeping woman, if you stand in a certain spot under them, and the auditorium and balcony have been the sight of other haunting episodes. There are also several gargoyles on the building.

Some of the past students who went on to become famous were, Buddy Holly, Natalie Maines (of the Dixie Chicks), Ralna English, and Mac Davis, among many other notables.

Here’s the photos I took.

Just Jot It January # 25 – Cheesy

Daily Prompt – JusJoJan the 25th, 2024

***

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 25th, 2024 is “cheesy.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

It’s getting cheesy today!

Here are some orange kind of photos I’ve posted before.

First is a letter/drawing and coloring scribbles of the orange crayola named Macaroni and Cheese. Yes, it’s a real Crayola.

The next photo is of the actual Crayola Crayon.

Next is a bunch of clouds at twilight here one evening. They are cheesy orange, too.

Last is a photo I took of a google search of the color hue of Macaroni and Cheese. It says this color was first introduced in 1993.

Now, do I like macaroni and cheese to eat? Yes, I sure do, and we had some a couple of nights ago. We usually do the microwave cups, which is really easy.

My mom, however, used to make it from scratch, and it was baked in the oven. This was a lot of trouble, but tasted so much better.

The first photo also has the bright sun, and the second one has a few whispy high clouds. These were from 2019 taken with my phone camera.

Here’s a poem I wrote back in 2015. I was trying something different by having the couplets divided by words opposite of what the main poem was saying.

UNFINISHED

Quietly, quietly drift the clouds

Far above Earth’s rowdy crowds

THUNDER

Parading stately across the sky

Painting paradise in our eye

CRASHES

Take a moment to gaze above

Fill your senses with peace and love

LIGHTNING

Imagine floating without a care

Our mortal souls are free up there

FLASHES

Beauty does our eyes behold

Orange, pink, and nature’s gold

WIND

Sunrise, sunset, and in between

Starry nights, a moonlit gleam

GNASHES

Dream along, embracing peace

Praying for all war to cease

ANGER

Pure air inhale, life’s true incense

Live and love your truth…intense…

LASHES

Tornado Weather

Tornado Weather

***

We had a wild little while yesterday evening! We were under a tornado watch that turned into a tornado warning for our city. It was scary, but exciting at the same time.

There were tornado funnels dropping from scary looking clouds all around the area, even within the city limits. The news reporters and storm chasers were broadcasting continually, saying to take shelter.

There was just a little bit of rain, and a few hailstones falling, but not that much. Instead of taking shelter everyone around here was out looking at the storm clouds. My daughter sent pictures, and I took pictures, and even my little 7 year old grand daughter texted me with a picture from the TV of the weather news alert. (photo above showing storm clouds)

My cousin even got a video of the funnel as it formed. Thankfully no funnels ever touched down to the ground.

After a little while everything moved on and we were in the clear again. We are in for another round tonight though. EEK

Here’s a couple of photos of the funnel taken from his FB posting of it from his video, plus a couple that I took of the clouds over our neighborhood.

And a photo from my daughter’s house, too.
