Today’s Jot word is = serendipity. Thanks, Jill!
***
Serendipity = the accidental discovery of something good that you hadn’t been looking for.

That is a nice sounding word, a fun word to describe an unplanned wonderful surprise. There have been lots of things discovered accidentally in medicine, and technology throughout the years. In Jill’s post she mentions the microwave oven, and penicillin as two of them, and I’d seen them, too when I looked up what serendipity meant.
What are some more? Hang on a minute while I look….
These are just a very few of the accidental discoveries from the past that are still used today:
Vaseline
Potato Chips
Coca Cola
Plastic
Teflon
Velcro
Popsicles
Post-It Notes
