"The idea of death, the fear of it, haunts the human animal like nothing else; it is a mainspring of human activity - designed largely to avoid the fatality of death, to overcome it by denying in some way that it is the final destiny of man."
--Ernest Becker, The Denial of Death

"The violence in the world comes about because we human beings are forever creating barriers between men who are like us and men who are not like us."
--Edmund Leach, A Runaway World

"Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world."
--Arthur Schopenhauer, Studies in Pessimism

my "fortune"

According to Excite.com: Your fortune for today...
"This weekend will challenge your assumptions."

I wonder which assumptions ;)
that rabbits are good?
that nature is good?
that plants are good?
that G.W.Bush is an idiot?
that the sun will rise in the morning?
that I will age?
that these are assumptions?
that I know the meaning of assumption?
that I am being silly?

Mood: 8.0!!

I am in a good mood today :) I got less sleep than usual, but woke up feeling much better than I usually do in the mornings. We were out of bananas, so I went grocery shopping and got some sun and listened to U2's "Elevation" over and over in the Rabbit. I also drove or walked around to take lots of pictures of the area with Lyle's digicam. When I got back to the apt, I doodled for 4 hours! Whee! Now my hand hurts, but I really don't care. May I keep on drawing, please!!
